I was psychology major, but abandoned plans to go into clinical. I eventually got an MBA and work for a large corporation (Verizon).
Most large organizations badly need organizational psychologists. The best executives have an intuitive idea of how people and groups behave and know how to harness them. In my experience, those managers are few and far between.
I don't know what types of positions there are, or what the job market is like. Under the right circumstances, it could be a stable, well-paying job with interesting subject matter and a chance to make a difference in a organization. It might also require representing the interests of owners in exploiting employees. Definitely requires investigation.
One of the big questions is what kind of organization you want to work for and what you want your role to be. Sociology PhDs allow teaching and research, which can be interesting. Personally, I prefer the private sector and a job in which I can see more direct results.
