I AM SO DAMN FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW!

So...

In one of my classes, our final exam is a big group project. We were assigned groups last Thursday based on how well we did on other minor group projects. A few of us (including me) had parts of projects that my professor hadn't had time to grade yet. So she told the few of us that she would email us with which groups we would be in. She firmly promised those of us who hadn't been assigned that we would absolutely NOT be in groups that would have to present on the first day, Tuesday, the 9th.

Wednesday, I finally receive an email from my professor with the group I was assigned to. As it turns out, I end up in a group that has to present on Tuesday. The first chance I get to meet in my group was Thursday this week. My professor wasn't even there, so I couldn't talk to her. So my group decided to dole out the work pretty evenly with everyone volunteering for their parts of the project.

TODAY I get an email from my professor saying that one of the girls in my group(who had volunteered for a pretty big part of the workload) dropped the class, AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER! So now basically I'm screwed.

One of my groupmates is emailing the professor tonight to see if we have any other options.

I am quite angry tonight.
I mean I have a billion other things to do like get ready for the move which is THIS FRIDAY!
and study for all my other exams.

i really want to cry right now

1. "I end up in a group that has to present on Tuesday"- Your professor thinks you're smart enough
to handle this. So do I !! Stop your crying and get to work!!

You CAN do this!!

3. I despise group projects
I especially despise group projects in which you can't just choose your own group and get to work but have to wait for someone to tell you what group you're in. And why assign groups based on how well people did on other projects? Does that mean the people who did poorly are placed together? Or that the people who did well are paired with those who did poorly? I can't really see a scenario for that which doesn't sound stupid. :eyes:

Hopefully your professor will push your presentation back in light of the loss of one of your members. In the meantime though, have a hug.

6. Thanks...

I have no idea how she worked us out. But I definitely was upset on the day she assigned all but 4 of us to groups. there's always the chance that your group could meet before you are assigned to it and dole out the work unfairly by giving you the majority of the workload.

Luckily the rest of my group is pretty cool and that wasn't the case.
We're just trying to figure out how to get this done if she doesn't push back the date since we all commute from 4 very different locations. One of the girls is Canadian and it's hard enough for her to get across the border for school.

11. Yeah, I can understand. I have a zillion big and little headaches right now too although mine
are not class-related. It's all coming from my imploding ill and injured cheer team and fundraisers and paperwork for registering for comps and organizing carpools and mixing the music and getting all the uniform pieces here before yearbook photos and the first game next week and on and on and on.

Not nearly as immense in the cosmic scheme of things as classwork, but I do get paid a little for doing this so when it doesn't go well I start popping the TUMS like PEZ. :P

Let us know what your prof says in light of the loss of a team member. Surely something can be worked out. :)

5. One of the many pains of college!
There are lots of fun parts, but the sucky parts are the ones that will count against you! Good luck. You will pull through. It may be some hardcore scrunch time, but you got it.

I've seen a lot of horrible things and I have had a lot of life issues to sort out on my own. I just wanted to vent for a second. I just wanted to write down what is bothering me to get it off my chest.

Thanks for the support :)

12. It is amazing what can be thrown at you to make you grow up.
Although I can't totally relate to what happened to you and your family (), I lost my brother in a car accident the very day before I started my freshman year in college.

Life can totally suck ass. And people your age shouldn't have to deal with shit like that. It ain't right.

19. hey! it all sucks. you will get no argument from me. i just know so many graduates that think....
life = university.

it doesn't. sry. i meant no offense.

i was lucky enough (or not) to attend a college (just a college) that regularly screwed with our developing minds. assigned us tasks and then purposely messed with those tasks hither and yon to screw with our completion.

it pissed me off to no end at the time. but now i understand what they were teaching.

i do truly support anyone attaining a higher education. please do not read my post in any other way. just know, what they might be attempting is something you might not understand just right now. just right now.

i don't know. what do i know?

anyway, good luck.

16. About the person who dropped the class....isn't some consideration given to that?
that may sound dumb...I don't know, but isn't there some kind of leniency given there? It doesn't seem fair, that's all.

17. That's why we're trying to email her...
Since it's our final project, I don't think that it's really O.K. that we should have to have someone who dropped the class affect our grade.

Hopefully she'll give us another option.

I mean all she did was send an email saying "Jayne dropped the class, bye"

what the rest of your group contribute, however...that's a different story. Sorry this happened, jeez, I would be really pissed off if that were me!
