I went to Target, KMart and Costco last night to shop
and then we ate at Outback.

Are these approved DU stores? I want to know prior to unpacking the items. I know I can't return the ahi tuna from the Outback, but I still have all the receipts.

1. You could return the ahi
But it would be messy. That would make quite a statement. Scene: Outback lobby/hostess podium. Action! "Fuck Outback and it's globalist business practices! :puke:

Ahi has large concentrations of mercury by the way.

I drove so that I was only turning right.

45. J. Edgar Hoover was so nuts,
and so afraid of having his chauffeur-driven Government car hit, his driver could only make right turns. Three of them made one left turn.

Figures, doesn't it?

10. You might try choosing them
Edited on Sat Dec-06-08 12:13 PM by hippywife
based on the way they treat their employees and how many jobs they drive overseas. I know you make a big joke about shopping at WalMart but the cheap goods available come with a trade-off at someone else's expense.

I know they aren't all good and pure but I just feel that doing any little thing I can do to not let the greedy profit is all to the good.

Don't let the attitudes in GD push you off from doing the right thing.

12. Unclean! Unclean!
The only DU-approved stores are:

Independently owned bookstores that are utterly useless if your taste in reading involves anything less obscure than Michel Focault and 17th century persian poetry.

Groceries that refuse to sell anything processed or flavored, and offer a fine selection of fair trade, organic, free range tofu.

Arts cooperatives run by aging hippies that employee patchouli scented slave labor, I mean, twentysomethings.

15. I have to tell you, the KMart was awful.
I haven't been in one for probably well over 15 years. Boy, did they go into the shitter.

I did get a nice tree, though. A Martha one for 1/2 off.

16. KMarts really are horrible.
Of all the big boxes, I tend to stick with Target just because generally the stores are clean and well organized and they do have cute stuff.

17. I was shocked. The KMart I used to shop in was next to
TM's ballet studio when she was little and it was pretty nice as big boxes go.

This one is closer to me, and wow. What a shit hole. If it weren't for the big sale on the tree, I wouldn't have gone near it.

Clean, well maintained, decent prices.

A friend of mine is the assistant manager and his wife is a shift manager and they have nothing but good things to say about working there.

Although, the employees at the WalMart here say they really like it as well.

36. What is this "clean" crap about Target vs. Walmart?
I have never seen a dirty Walmart and the one near me has actually gone upscale in the last year. They put in hardwood floors and the lighting looks warmer. I don't know if they were trying to imitate Target, but it certainly was always a clean, organized store. Also, for those who claim that Target has trendier clothing or whatever, let me assure you that I have gotten many compliments for my Walmart clothes. It's your taste that determines how cool you look anyhow. I go for the stuff made in India, which has a Bohemian flare. Now, if we were talking Kmart, then I would say that they have a tendency to have clothes which are pretty frumpy.
