How often do you run your Ad Aware and Spy Block programs?
Curious as to other DUers computer maintenance habits.

1. I set AVG to scan every morning at 5 am.

Then run the other spyware stuff at least once a week.

I rarely have anything when I do remember to run scans though.

3. CMW has done something to make my laptop run all those protections
about twice a week. I have absolutely nothing to do with it except exercising patience.

5. Ad-aware and Spybot S&D every two weeks in safe mode.

Have had my computer for 4 years and it is still in tip top shape.

If I notice aberrant behavior, I will run scans almost immediately and have used system restore with great success.

6. Used to be never....
but a couple hundred dollars later (I had to have my computer professionally "cleaned"), I now try to do it every couple of weeks.

Think I'll do it today.

7. I was running AdAware every couple of days
my old dog of a computer was always slowing to a crawl. Because of my version of Windows, which wasn't exactly legit, I couldn't update so Cox's security suite wouldn't run on my machine.

I finally got it upgraded and now have McAfee. I haven't run Ad Aware since. It does a pretty good job I think. I also liked SpyBot but if I ran it after I ran Ad Aware, it never caught anything so I thought they were redundant.

Now my computer is slick as snot. Every 6 years, whether I need it or not, eh?

9. Run a daily scan of the PC's
I have a router, best first line of defense, and don't have the preview pane on in Thunderbird. If I remember I turn off the Windows firewall if/when I reinstall a OS on one of my PC's.

A lot of what gets through is from bad habits, don't clickon everything and keep the preview pane off.

8. Adaware 2008 is so slow, so I do not run it as often
It used to be once a week. Otherwise I run Spybot Search and Destroy's scan about once a week.

Haven't found anything in ages, but I'm pretty smart about keeping my system clean.

13. Once a week, automatically. Of course, they're always on in the background
A full-scale backup every quarter, and my crucial stuff is always stored in at least two places (and not in the same room/building)...
