Rocco Prestia is a funk god on Bass and that horn section can not be matched. Damn good choice....

For a modern funk experience by white folks, try Galactic or Garage A Trois. Galactic is a New Orleans style funk band in the tradition of the Funky Meters. Garage a Trois is experimental jazz, funk, electronica band, that you must hear to believe.

HOWEVER, the single funkiest white person alive is Jon Cleary of Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen. Jon was a studio musician for years and only recently broke out with a solo career. He has played with many of the greats of R&B, Blues and Funk. This is the only correct answer to this question and anyone who disagrees has simply not heard Mr. Cleary play.

Rocco almost died a couple of years ago. One of the fans put together a fund raising drive, and we raised $150K for a new liver. The doctors were impressed enough with our feeling for Rocco that they bumped (you should pardon the expression) him up on the list. He's TCB now with his new liver. Garibaldi's been back with the band for about 5 years now. The rhythm section rules.

It's amazing how many great musicians live in total poverty. In New Orleans they have created an insurance fund for the local musicians that is funded with money from the city and private donations.
