A map using the true names of North America (1000x780 pixels image)
I live in Heart's Town, Land of Friends (that would be in the southern Land of Friends, not the northern one), but I was born in The New Golden One. See, personally, I'm a typical Home Ruler mutt, since my dad is from Land of the Red Ones and my mom grew up in Stink Onion. Of course, someday I would like to visit Sibling Love, but this summer I plan to travel to Moon Navel City.

1. Map did not include The Great Blue Hill (Massachusetts)
And Guadalajara is Stony Brook, not Stonewater.

Interesting take nonetheless.

2. You're such a People on the Other Side-ish elitist!
I wonder if they translated 'brook' all the way down to 'water,' in reducing place names to original meaning.

6. I believe the source is...
the city of York, England, which on the same map is listed as "Wild Boar."

4. Where I call home is between the N Land of Friends and Stink Onion!

I no longer live there though.

I live in the Land of the Chaste One between The Messengers and St. Heelholder.

5. Chicago would like you to think it means "wild onion place"
the one I heard was "foul-smelling onion dump"!

7. What? No Possum Trot?
Edited on Mon Dec-08-08 08:48 PM by Mabus
How will evlbstrd know where he lives?

Legend has it that the new owners held a meeting at which one of the subjects was a name for their new township. After rejecting such ideas as Port Fonda, Rabbitville and Possum Trot, they decided to name it the Town of Kansas, after the Kansa Indians who inhabited the area.
