8. I've spent many, many alone
New Year's Eve, Christmas, Christmas Eve and Thanksgiving. The joys of holiday sharing when you're divorced. Christmas is the hardest to spend alone...

Last Christmas was the worst. Stuck at home alone with a stomach virus and hearing the neighbors celebrate next door. Christmas and New Years of late have been very depressing for me

But it was a trade off... either have a long Thanksgiving weekend with the family which was pre-planned beforehand or work new Years... I chose to have TG off instead.

But if all works well I will have vacation in February too.

43. Hardly. I never make plans for New Year's.
I have a low tolerance to alcohol, not that I have a problem with that or with drinking. But, as it's just me driving me around, then I can't imbibe.

However, it's not so much the drunk-driving of my own or the others that keeps me at home and inside. No, it's the falling bullets I shy away from.

47. My SO and I have our Christmas on NYE
With his three kids. Easier than trying to work it in with his family Christmas, my family Christmas, and his kids' mother's family Christmas. We order pizza, have champagne, and let the kids stay up as late as they want. Although now that they're getting older they usually have plans. Last NYE it was just us; very fun and even romantic for a change.

52. not me
I'm completely at a loss as to what to do. I'm flying back to the US for Christmas, but it was hundreds of dollars cheaper to come back here before New Years.... I sort of have plans to visit a friend after that, but since I'll be back here on the morning of the 30th, I don't really think I want to fly out again right after that, so I'm probably stuck here.... don't know what I'll do. A lot of my friends here, however, do have plans - out of town :( *sigh* it may be a very lonely new years..... or maybe Liz doesn't have plans, will break up with her boyfriend, and want to spend that night with me - but I'm not counting on it.

He fell asleep early, was sleeping a lot because he'd just had surgery. So I had some wine and I posted on DU, a rare memorable time. I felt needed and cared for and read some touching posts on DU.:-)

There was one guy who was homesick, who was posting from Egypt. It meant a lot to him to communicate with those of back home on that night. The next day he started a thread, thanking those of us who had kept him company when he was so far away. :-)

But my favorite was Rev. Cheesehead. I posted that it was just me and three dogs there, that my "patient" was asleep. And she replyed that, with three dogs for company, I was truly blessed...:hi:

Not naming names, one of them is always looking for trouble, so there's always a dust-up, a crash or some scary noise. I'll bet you can guess...;)

It's just that there's no chance of hearing another human voice unless it's Rachel's...:-(

But you're right. I will *knock on wood* see another year, as Lori always reminds me that I came close to missing...;(
