3. I recently had all the channels, all movies channels, etc

This was after I had been without any cable or satellite for a few years...

Once I had all that the cable company had to offer..I was so disgusted with the lack of content on tv and commercial overload, that I found myself turning off the tv most of the time. I tried it for a month. The movies were mostly ones I had seen many years ago, and I don't go out to movies that often.

Lots of repeated crap, and tons of commercials, and they expect you to pay through the nose for that?

I downgraded to basic, just until I receive my coupons to DTV.

I can remember way back when pay tv was being discussed. It was touted as a way to pay for tv and not have commercials. I was rather young back then, so maybe I misunderstood, as it almost seems there are more commercials on cable than on regular tv. At least that is my experience on many channels. I would get so fed up with the amount of commercials that I would just turn off a movie half way through...it was not worth it anymore, knowing I would have another batch of commercials to watch in a couple of minutes.

Yes, I had a DVR, it was over-rated. Got rid of that, too. Guess I am not a couch potato.

4. free movies

Check out hulu.com for free movies. Its all legit and free. You can toggle a hyres picture too. The site also has tv programs archived. Read about the site in an AARP magazine.

5. I wish we had freeview in the US.

No hi-def yet but more channels - at least 30 channels on (some timeshare so they say there's 40+) all the time, and all you need to do is plug in a digital box into your existing antenna.

I know we have some sub-channels on digital tv here, but I started out with 10 distinct over the air channels, now I have 14 including the sub-channels.

Really, hi-def may be nice but when there's nothing on...

There are a few good shows... but it's mostly just a parade of crap. :)

8. I wish the cable company had an a la cart choice, where I could

pick just the channels I do usually find something on to watch. I think I'd have a total of 6 channels on my menu.

But I guess that may please too many people, so of course, they won't offer that.

9. I canceled our Directv back in June (I'm impulsive when I'm angry)

and never got around to signing up with cable. We've gotten used to it...although my children hate me. :)
