Woohoo, another semester done! College students, how did you do?
I took my last final (Biology) today, and I'm positive that I aced it. I turned in my English portfolio yesterday, and ThinkBlue turned hers in today, so we are both 100% DONE with Fall 2008. My grades are going to be really, really good, but not a perfect 4.0 this semester. I'm guessing I'll get the following:

Biology 101: A+
Biology 103 Lab: B+ (already got my grade for this)
English 102: A+
State and Local Gov: A+
American Lit II: A-

That will leave me with a semester GPA of 3.92. Not much I could do about the B+ in Lab; I had a kidney stone attack and missed one lab, and it was impossible to make it up due to the particulars of that lab, which required group work in order to calculate results. That zero was enough to take me down below the A- level by a single point. Ah well. Life happens. At least my Lab TA agreed not to dock me 5% for the absence.

My schedule for next semester is this:

Geology 101 (to finish up my hard science GEC credits)
Math 121 (another GEC to get out of the way)
English 261: British Lit I
English 111: Intro to Creative Writing (a CW track class that I need to get out of the way, as I sort of skipped over it, lol)
English 339: Theatre Tour (we're going to travel to see plays in D.C., Staunton, VA, and Pittsburgh)
English 313: Poetry Workshop (with poet James Harms, woo!)

So, fellow college students--how did you do this semester, and what are you taking this spring?

:hi:

1. Finals aren't until next week.
Two classes look like As for sure, the other two will probably be Bs, unless I seriously fuck up the final, which I can't see happening.

3. I have one assignment left to go for one class
This is my last semester of grad school; on December 20th, I should be receiving my M. A. in Political Science. I passed my comprehensive exams, have an A in one class, and am right on the borderline (currently have a 90) in the class for which I still have an assignment to do. I've made all A's so far as a graduate student, though, so if I end up with a B in this one class (Scope and Methods of Political Science- research designs, statistical methods, etc.), I won't feel too badly, as it's the most difficult class I've taken on this level.

As for the spring, I really don't know. In a week and a half, I'll no longer be employed as a graduate assistant, and will have to be looking for a job again. What a great time, economy-wise, to be out looking for a job... haha

5. I'll get back to you when I'm finished with all these goddamn term papers.
Think I got somewhere from a B to an A- on the only actual sit-down final I had, though. I don't write fast enough to get everything out there in time.

Now, back to work.

7. Worst semester in 3.5 years
I haven't gotten any grades in yet, nor am I even done with everything. But I can tell you that the courses I have taken and the assignments they have entailed have been harder on me than at any time since I took 6 courses in one semester in the second semester of my sophomore year. The first year of grad school was practically a walk. This semester - farking nightmare. Next semester is time to finish classes and start stepping up to the bigs for comps and a proposal. But don't talk to me about that now...

8. I'm taking six courses next semester.
Although I have to admit, I'm a little worried about it now. Is it really hard, handling that much of a courseload? I'll be taking 19 total credit hours, btw.

9. I went to school outside the country
So I don't know what it would be like here. In Canada, it was quite a challenge but in retrospect I think it has prepared me well. It definitely made it easier to work on all my grad school apps. while still in college. So, it could be a learning experience in more ways than one.

10. I only did two courses this semester.
Social Research Methods will probably be a C because my professor was horrible and the course was horrible, so I quarter-assed the whole thing.

Canadian Political Problems should be an A.

11. My grade's still yet to come.
But I'm pulling an easy B in the one class(Statistics) I'm taking. Depending on how I pull things together this weekend for the final, I could get an A.Hopefully.

Next semester, I start at the UC, and will re-continue a full load. I'm looking forward to that.
