Need computer help...recently did a computer restore on my computer
two problems:

First..( and I realize I had posted this a couple of days ago..someone responded and I thought the problem was resolved...it's not, and the post is lost ) I can't adjust the resolution on my computer. When I click on display, settings, I can't adjust the resolution slider-bar thingy. So I am stuck at looking at very large print and fonts on this computer. A friend had to re-install the boot disk for Windows on this PC ( if that helps at all ).

Second...I have NO sound...at all.

I know next to nothing about computers ( I lack the patience to learn about them...I'm not fond of them, I will be honest ) but any help would be greatly appreciated here. And PLEASE be patient with me if there is something I don't understand. I barely know how to work with them....

1. Both problems sound like they have to do with drivers
What O/S are you using? Is it Vista or XP?

4. Problem fixed....each driver had to be updated for the computer to
recognize the restore settings ( or something like that...as explained to me by my friend here ). Thanks anyway!

5. It's a Dell Dimension 2350 with a Pentium 4 processor
256 mb ( yes...it IS a dinosaur, but I've never upgraded the thing since I got it in '03 ).

6. Memories............
BESTS thing you can do is upgrade memory. Go to Crucial.com, run their tool, they'll tell you what memory you are using, how much max you can put in, and what it costs. Worth every penny. Your computer won't be swapping back and forth with the hard drive. (which is probably a 40GB).

8. here's a question
I have a free agent external hard drive (500 gb) - it automatically backs up what is on my pc hard drive.

Would I be wise to delete existing docs and pics on the hard drive that are now on the external drive?

9. that's easy - you don't have the drivers installed for these items
if you don't have them on disk you'll need to go online and download them. Both will fix very easily.

Then after you downloaded the drivers and fix everything, burn those drivers to a CD so when you need them in the future they're easy to find.
