Yes. It's all my fault. It's my fault that you've missed choir rehearsal for the last THREE WEEKS!
It's my fault that the choir director decided to move choir rehearsal to her classroom, where she keeps her percussion instruments, so we could rehearse with the percussionists without moving the instruments.

It's my fault that she only announced this at rehearsals for the last THREE WEEKS!!

It's my fault that she forgot to ask the church secretary to change the choir rehearsal time in the bulletins and newsletter.

So, thank you for barking at me after rehearsal, and telling me that moving rehearsal was "not a welcoming thing to do". Thank you for assuring me you'll be worshiping with us again in spite of the fact that we're not very welcoming. Thank you for not acknowledging my many apologies. Thank you for making me feel about three inches tall.

What the hell. They pay me for this after all. And it IS all my fault.

Thank you for letting me vent.

2. Thanks, peg. I hate it when I have to spend a whole evening assuring myself
I'm not the worst pastor to ever walk the earth. People who never make mistakes are very difficult to deal with.

3. "Fuck you! Fuck your choir! I'll have the liturgical deacon read the Bible for 30 more minutes...
each service. And get used to wearing your goddamned fucking coats because I'm sick of the huge heating bills, and things are going to be ass cold around here for the next few months"

Ahhh, the serene wisdom that would be Pastor JVS

6. Congregation, I'd like you to meet Pastor JVS. Whenever you bitch at me about anything,
I'm going to let Pastor J do whatever-it-was next time. Don't like my sermon? Pastor JVS will be preaching next week. Your kids are pissed about something I did or did not say in Confirmation Class? Pastor JVS will be helping him/her memorize the Catechism next week. Did I snub you at Coffee Hour? Tell Pastor JVS.

I double dog dare ya!

4. No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. - Eleanor Roosevelt.
Try not to let people push you around just 'cause you're in a job where you have to be nice to people.

... of course, while searching for that exact quote, I found another interesting quote by her. Completely irrelevant, but it made me laugh out loud.
I once had a rose named after me and I was very flattered. But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalogue: no good in a bed, but fine up against a wall.

18. Watch out for the sticker shock, though...
It's a bit expensive for a canny Scot like myself. I tend to drink it only when some kind soul makes a gift of a bottle.

"Canna ye spare a drop or two for a poor man? A wee dram?"
