anyone watching Top Chef tonight?? (WTF spoiler)
Edited on Wed Dec-10-08 10:21 PM by charlie and algernon
did the producers suddenly decide they needed a villian? Everyone is out of the blue trashing Stefan, for no apparent reason. Is there something he did that they left on the cutting room floor? Why the sudden need for a "villian"?

2. Those kinds of shows always seem to need that.
Plus the obligatory "bitchy" person, either male or female.

3. it's disappointing for this show
this is probably the one reality show based on real talent, yet the producers still feel the need to create the "token" characters.

4. Stefan's not really that obnoxious, unlike Lisa
from last season, who genuinely seemed like a completely intolerable b$%^&. There's always one on each season that gets set up as the baddie. In past seasons there were Stephen and Marcel, who both seemed like thoroughgoing assholes, and Hung, who's the most like Stefan - both of them know how high their talent level is and are rather cocky about it. but aren't about trashing the other contestants.

There are more likable chefs than usual this year, IMO.

5. I agree,
I actually LIKE Stefan. He's confident, with good cause it seems. A little cocky, but it comes off as almost tongue in cheek to me, like he knows it's slightly silly and fun. I always enjoy the show more when about 1/2 of the contestants have been eliminated as they can show more of the cooking process. Stefan hasn't belittled or attacked anyone, and even Leah (I think that's her name) who said he makes her nuts was laughing and goofing with him, so he's pretty milquetoast as a "villain".

I didn't think of Hung as villain at all, just very focused, talented, and confident. I hate when talented people downplay themselves, it's almost insulting. Be proud of your accomplishments and abilities.
