I may sound like a dork, but I wish there were some sort of two or three-player strategy game wherein the goal is to get to 270 electoral votes before your opponent(s). You have to shape your policies to appeal to a broad base, pick a running mate that can bring you even more support, decide which states to run TV and radio ads in, which states to travel to, and deal with negative attacks (both giving and receiving). Then the voters go to the polls and you see how well you do.

Is that dorky or what?

1. Let's see... the "Election '04" board or strategy game...
Object: Get elected POTUS!

Could be like Life, or Monopoly, or, more accurately, "Mille Bourne"...

Flip coin for incumbent/challenger.

Scandal Cards:

--Illegitimate War Rationale revealed (-10% for incumbent)

--You are ready to go to press with sex scandal info on your opponent, but:

--He has the goods on your gay sex scandal. So both scandals shelved ("mutual assured destruction")

--Fake anonymous rumors disseminated via scandal mongering websites (-3% votes for victim)

--Anonymous rumors traced back to incumbent campaign manager (-5% for perp)

--Bible thumping gay marriage amendement (+3% for incumbent in GA, AL, -8% for incumbent in CA, NY)

Oh, the fun you could have...

Nader runs as Indep (-0.5% for Dem)

Ross Perot runs as fiscally responsible indep (net -6% for Repub)

Pat Buchanan runs as fire breathing gay-baiter (-3% for Repub)
