Electric Cars...I want one...But are there any that can go more than

50-60 miles before it needs to be recharged? And, that can go faster than 25-35mph?

Also, I'd like to use solar to recharge....how long will this take in a climate that is always sunny?

Other alternatives?

This is a compressed air car. Essentially clean. And Solar Power could be used to provide the electrical power needed to run the refueling compressor.

used to be the name of an electric car. I got a Toyota Prius that got over 48 mpg going from Greensburg, PA to Allentown, PA.

2. I got in a tiny fender bendr w/ a toyota electr. car - cost 4,000 to fix!

The car is made of some fancy aluminum alloy and though the dent was slight (some bumper damage and some fender, the body shop had to spend hours cutting it out and repairing it. Furthermore, the AAA tow guy had no idea how to tow it.. and he told me tow drivers can't stand these cars nor have they been instructed on how to deal with them. Overall, I have to say that unless you are Ed Begely or Leonardo Dicaprio and can take the hit $$$, stick to a reliable combustion engine.

13. You considered a bike?

Look up recumbents - they're comfortable, fast (they're banned on the racing circuit), you can put fairings on them to keep dry, and you not only don't use gas, you get exercise for free! I use my basic bike-e to get to work daily....5 miles, downhill in the mornings so I don't need a shower & it goes fast, uphill in the evenings so I get my cardio workout. I think I could do a 10 mile commute on the flat fairly easily. The only trick is getting out of your car mindset & not taking the route you would take if you were driving. Stay one street over from the busy streets. You can also get motor-boosted bikes, if there's a long trip, and those can be electrics.

Someone mentioned the Corbin Sparrow, which is probably the fastest & best range - but I think they went out of business. You might still be able to find one used. Batteries need replacement every 3 years or so, run you 2-3 thou. Save up your gas money!

Lotta people really liked the Toyota Rav electric, but I think that's gone too. It's been a down year for electrics.

14. Consider one of the COMPRESSED AIR cars that are coming out

They use electricity to recharge their air cannisters.

They are also French!
