Please help destroy Christmas with folding@home.

Dear DUers,

I implore you to help Democratic Underground destroy Christmas by utilizing Stanford U's folding@home client.

Folding@home uses the spare computing cycles your computer has available to calculate the shape of complex proteins. Every protein you fold has the chance to prolong the life of a rational-thinking atheist.

Folding@home doesn't help fundamentalists nearly as much, because they put their trust in Santa Claus--or that Hispanic guy who was also born on Christmas--to keep them healthy.

Thanks to some shifty back-door dealings with the good Satanists at Stanford, I can assure all DUers that we will not be required to fold any proteins which may allow fundamentalists to re-create the genome of Jesus or to clone him.

Folding proteins is not without its costs--it will increase the power consumption of your computer by almost as much as a light bulb, adding pennies to your monthly electricity bill. The byproduct of such computing is heat--again, about as much heat as a light bulb puts out, which I know many DUers do not want in the winter time. (A couple of years ago, my dearly departed computer Lamont helped to heat my bedroom by folding proteins in the trying times when the gas was shut off, but I'm an unusual person in that I dislike the cold.)
