The roast turned out UN-EFFING-BELIEVABLE... Try this if you eat meat:

This is all mine, so if you gag, it's my fault. I doubt you will, It turned out to be the most flavorful roast I have ever tasted.

Ingredients:

1 large cooking bag
1x 5-6 lb. bone-in chuck roast
1 lb. fresh whole mushrooms
1 lb. tin whole tomatoes in tomato sauce
6 medium red potatoes
4 medium SWEET onions
1 lb. skinned baby carrots
2 teaspoons crushed parsley
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup corn meal
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Place cooking bag in bottom of broiler pan, dust lightly with flour or corn meal.

Place roast in bag.

place red potatos around roast.

quarter onions and place in bag.

wash mushrooms and place WHOLE in bag.

Pour canned tomatoes over all.

Take corn meal, all spices and 1 cup warm water and beat until frothy.

Pour spice mixture over all.

Tie the bag, place in oven at 350F for three hours.

After three hours, remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes.

Dig in!

The recipe sounds delicious...but, I don't want to start a fire in my kitchen!

10. My favorite 1 person chicken is to take a frozen breast filet
and place it in a sautee pan with a 1/2 tblsp of virgin olive oil on med. low heat.

I'll spray it with PAM and season with salt, paper, cayenne and a pinch of basil.

Cover and let if alone for 15 minutes.

Turn, spray and season again.

Cook for another 10 mins and turn again.

After 5 mins, sprinkle with a covering of parmesan cheese.

Serve with noodles or a sandwich on rye with a dill slice and mayo.

14. a great chicken and yello rice recipe
VERY EASY!

1 whole frying chicken (small somewhere around 1-2 lbs)
1 sweet onion (fine chop)
4-6 cups of good chicken broth (depending on size of chicken)
2 bags (20 ozs) of Viggo Yello Rice (or substitute)
2 cans of black beans
some frozen peas
bay leaves
oregano
basil


1) cut up the chicken into 6 pieces (2 legs & thighs, 2 wings, 2 breasts). leave skin on except for chicken breasts (if removed from bone)
NOTE: You don't have to cut up the chicken yet, but my pot isn't big enough for a whole uncut chicken

2) rub oregano and basil into the skin of chicken pieces
3) get a med-hot pan with a bit of olive oil and sear the chicken on both sides (just enough to get the outside cooked and sear in the spices)
4) poke piece with knife or fork to open up some holes for liquid to get in. put them in a bowl for later
5) in large pot (i mean big enough for chilli or stew) put in a oz. or two of olive oil and get it hot. Put in onion and cook it til it starts to get brown and soft.
6) Throw in chicken broth and bay leaves and get it up to a boil.
7) throw in chicken pieces and cover pot for 45 mins- 1 hour. Turn heat down to med-low. Make sure chicken is submerged in liquid, if not, throw in some hot water slowly so that the bird is drowned.
8) open up the pot and throw in the rice and mix up contents thouroughly and cover. Turn heat down to low. also, in another pot warm up black beans.
9) 10 minutes later, throw in the frozen peas. Make sure to stir every minute or two b/c the rice should have absorbed most of the liquid and if you leave under direct heat without stiring than rice will brurn.
10) 10-15 minutes turn heat down. check to see if rice is tender. if not, then cook for 5-10 more minutes while stirring occasionaly.
11) Remove bay leaves. Put rice in large serving bowl and throw chicken on top. Serve black beans on side so you and your guests can mix as you please.

makes enough for 3-4 hungry people. I usually have a lot of leftovers and it makes a great lunch/dinner the next day.

I think that is everything.

16. NO! Preheat to 350F. Cook at 350 for 3 Hrs....
You don't want (or need) to go over 350 with a bag.

27. Sounds great.
I only have one suggestion.

I would skip the bag and go to a roasting pan.

That way you can brown the meat before adding the rest of the ingrediants, and you get all those yummy flavors when you 'deglaze' the pan by adding the liquids to it.

Other than that it sounds great.
