14. Me too.
That song gets to me no matter who sings it.

If it's a child, multiply the "gets me" factor by ten.

24. That was the favorite Christmas song of my former
Edited on Mon Dec-15-08 02:45 AM by LibDemAlways
boss, who was Jewish. She got very emotional when she heard it, just loved the beauty of it. I always think of her at Christmastime since she died of cancer Dec. 31, 1990 at age 38. I'm sorry she isn't alive to hear it anymore.

26. Why do I get so emotional during this song?
At least I'm not the only one. It brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it.

23. Chef's version from the South Park "Mr Hankey's Xmas Classics" album
Baby, you know there's a lot of love between us
Sometimes that love goes bad
But other times its so right!
Yeah, I know we've been through some rough waters
But most of the time our thing is off the hook!
I just want to know one thing...

What child is this
You've laid to rest
At my feet
This is not the time.
I know that I'm not responsible
It's white so it cannot be mine.

No, this, this is Christ the King.
With a feeling of relief
I cannot sing.

Haste, haste to bring him laud
The Babe, the Son of Mary.
Mmmmm, Son of Mary!
(Son of Mary)

Little bitty baby!
(Mary)

So, bring him incense, gold, and myrrh
Come peasant king to own Him.
The King of kings, salvation brings,
Let loving hearts enthrone Him.

Raise, raise the song on high
The Virgin sings her lullaby.
Joy, joy, for Christ is born
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Son of Mary
(Son of Mary)

Little bitty baby
(Little bitty baby, yeah)

I'm gonna lay you down by the yule log
I'm gonna gonna love you right.
Baby, I'm gonna deck your halls
And silent your night!

You'll hear the herald angels sing
When I'm sliding off your bra.
I just can't wait to jingle your bells
And fa la la your la!
(Fa la la your la)

This, this is Christmas Day
A time for lovers to celebrate.
I'm gonna ding dong you merrily on high
Because this is the season for giving!
(Give it to me baby, give it to me baby)

...Season for giving
(Season for giving, give me love!)

...Season for living
(Season for living, give me love!)

...Season for giving
(Season for giving)

...Giving you love
(Give me love!)

...Giving you good love
(Season for good love!)

...Whole lotta love
(Give me love!)

...Making love
(Season for giving)

...By the fire
(Give me love!)

...Whole lotta love
(Season for good love)

...By the fire
(Give me love!)

...Don't need no mistletoe
(Season for giving)

...You've got toes
(Give me love!)

...Whole lotta loving
(Season for good love!)

...Love
(Give me love!)

...Jingle bells
(Season for giving, give me love!

...Fa la la your la.
(Season for good love, give me love!)

5. The First Noel lyrics.
The First Noel

The first Noel the angel did say
Was to certain poor shepherds
in fields as they lay;
In fields as they lay, keeping their sheep,
On a cold winter's night that was so deep.

Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel,
Born is the King of Israel.

They looked up and saw a star
Shining in the east beyond them far,
And to the earth it gave great light,
And so it continued both day and night.

And by the light of that same star
Three wise men came from country far;
To seek for a king was their intent,
And to follow the star wherever it went.

This star drew nigh to the northwest,
O'er Bethlehem it took it rest,
And there it did both stop and stay
Right over the place where Jesus lay.

Then entered in those wise men three
Full reverently upon their knee,
and offered there in his presence
Their gold, and myrrh, and frankincense.

Then let us all with one accord
Sing praises to our heavenly Lord;
That hath made heaven and earth of naught,
And with his blood mankind hath bought.

9. yes, it is an old French carol and our classical station plays a French version
that is absolutely beautiful.

It is a pretty song but this particular version is outstanding.

7. I think my favorite is 'Joy To The World', esp with a really big crowd of people
Edited on Sun Dec-14-08 10:39 PM by yellowdogintexas
We sing that when all our candles are lit at Christmas Eve Services, when the sanctuary looks like this:

It is a lot of fun to sing that one, too.

My favorite non religious 'holiday' music is "Sleigh Ride" by the Boston Pops. Never get tired of it

Maybe that's just a church one ... I never set foot in church.

Actually, I've never heard the Lo How A Rose nor the Torch one, come to think of it...I think I must spend a lot of my time avoiding anything religious. :)

29. It's actually not a Christmas piece, but one for Advent...
...in other words, the preparation period starting four Sundays before Christmas and running until Christmas Eve. And, yes, it is very much a Christian work (Gregorian chant).

I might have picked it, except that I'm being pedantic about Advent and Christmas music being separate. As for Christmas music? My favorite changes practically every year. Many years, it's "In the Bleak Midwinter" (another church piece) or "Love Came Down at Christmas" (ditto).

20. 'Favorite Carol'?!! I have none. This thing called 'The Magic of Christmas' ruined carols for me.
Edited on Sun Dec-14-08 11:11 PM by mainegreen
'The Magic of Christmas' is this concert put on every single year by the Portland Symphony. Every year it's identical. Nothing but carols, and always the same ones. I was dragged to it every year from when I was four until sixteen. I never want to hear another carol again.

That's why I bought the martini lounge Christmas CD. It's as far away from carols as you can get, and still be holiday!
