9. Beethoven was definitely emo; Schubert was worse.

He wrote this great song cycle, "Die Winterreise" ("The Winter Journey") which was all about how this guy's girlfriend dumped him and he goes wandering off in the snow, contemplating darkness and death. It's the most totally emo thing in classical music.
