Fashion question of earth shattering importance: Stockings with open toed shoes?
I'm one of the lucky duckies who will be going to the Inauguration next month. I will also be attending a few galas and parties. Having lived in AZ for the past 10 years I've grown accustomed to mild winter weather and wearing no stockings and sandals.

I've been under the impression that wearing stockings with any kind of sandal or open toe shoe is a no-no. However, I don't plan on freezing my keester off in chilly DC weather so stockings are in my wardrobe plans. I've been looking on line for stylish shoes to go with my evening dresses and am noticing a lot of open toed styles, including ones being modeled by women wearing hose with them. Is it no longer a faux pas? I suppose I could go the safe route and just buy closed toed pumps but many of the open-toed ones are awfully cute. Please advise!

1. Just as an fyi, they do make
open toed pantyhose. That's what I wear when faced with a dilemma such as yours. They are great.

2. You can get open toed hose
no, I'm not kidding.

I haven't tried them, but they are made to wear with sandals and open toed pumps. You are right. Trust me, you don't want bare legs in January in D.C.

They look like this:

3. Get the cute ones.
:)

I always wear the open toed stockings anyway... just cause I can't stand the feel of shoes with no socks or stockings on.

4. I've always done that
and the more heck I catch for it, the more the better. In fact I think there was a real hot thread on that right here on DU a few years back . . . .

6. They do make open-toed hose, BUT
try them on with your shoes before you go. Sometimes you can see the stockings.

BTW, I am soooooooo jealous.
