2. Washed up. He was never that good to begin with.
After his first couple movies, he began to believe his own hype, and his movies became mental masturbation material for hipster douchebags like him. Kevin Smith is one of the biggest hipster douchebags on earth.

3. Good way to put it.
There's still some great lines in Mallrats that I like, such as "Women, always leaving you when you've just had the crap kicked out of you."

But yeah in general.... two meh's up.

6. Correction: FAUX hipster.
I kind of like him (he can be brilliant in writing dialogue), but he's definitely a douchebag with an over-inflated sense of self importance.

16. He can be brilliant in writing dialog, but it's all the same and it gets repetitive.
He's got no depth or variation. He was good for a few movies, then it gets stale and rancid.

Have you seen An Evening with Kevin Smith and the sequels? I haven't seen the sequels, but I thought Evening was funnier than most of his movies, save for Clerks.

Dogma. I thought Clerks, the first one, was funny the first time I saw it in the 90's but I might not now. I am pretty hard on comedies in general anyway.

Actually, I agree with you. He hasn't been funny since "Clerks", although I enjoyed a small portion of the Clerks II dialogue.

He'll never suck as much as Richard Linklater, though. It's just not possible.

24. I never found him that funny in the first place.
Juvenile, comic fanboy humor. The hipsters love him, but I never got the appeal. The Jay and Silent Bob characters were possibly the most irritating, unfunny characters in all of movie history.

Clerks (the first one) I guess deserves a little credit but the rest is entirely skipable.

26. Dogma sucked...what do you call it?....
...oh yeah, donkey balls. Dogma sucked donkey balls.

Seriously, a greater 90-something minutes of my life had never been more wasted than the time I watched Dogma. It was just a waste of a vehicle for big name A-list stars to put their face out without accomplishing anything worthwhile in terms of a story.

Yet some people claim it to be enlightening. I actually once heard someone that they would "never set foot in a church again" after they watched Dogma. Now, I'll admit, there are more than one reason as to why one may become disillusioned with organized religion. A shitty Kevin Smith crapfest, however, is not one of them.

Okay, I'll admit the Buddy Jesus thing did make me chuckle a bit.

49. Kevin Smith should stick to the subject of convenience stores.
Comic fanboy/hipster humor and God? Please. It was Kevin Smith saying, "Oh, look at me! I can be deep, too! But I'll throw in a shit monster just to let people know I'm still not afraid to be juvenile."

And all the useless cameo appearances by different celebrities was just annoying. Ohhhh--Alanis Morissette is God. How pretentiously edgy. :eyes: Maybe they should have gotten Joan Osbourne instead, and she could have sung "One of Us".

The only actor in that movie who did a decent job I think was Jason Lee. To be honest, I forgot the purpose of his character but he at least was interesting. The rest was just an annoying celebrites on parade who just wanted to be in a Kevin Smith movie just beecause.

Thats your point of view, what i was thinking of is that the movie portrayed that just because you organized religious savior of the day says something happened a certain way doesn't mean it did, it was all a "good idea" blown totally out of proportion by raging lunatics with an agenda, and how do you know there are no poop monsters!!!
