I just spent 20 something dollars on a cat toy
Edited on Sun Dec-14-08 09:10 PM by in search of sanity
and they're ignoring it. One of the cats has decided to make a toy fort out of a free paper bag.
They ignored my last offering to them too.
Damn. I could have got myself some earrings or have dinner out with the money.
Maybe they'll play with it later.

edited to add an omitted word

1. Is it encrusted with diamonds?

2. No
If it was, I'd pry them off and put them on my earlobes. I've never had diamond earrings.

5. I have spent that much on doggie toys.
My dog's don't turn their noses up at any doggie toys unless they are rubber.

3. Cats are like teenagers.
If you try, they'll turn up their noses. The things they think are cool are the things you don't try too hard on.

That's why clever parents will learn how to drop hints without making it sound like they're giving advice. That's the only way a teenager will actually listen, if they don't think you're giving them something (in this case, advice/information) that you think is important. :P

12. I think these two cats are like little old men
They just don't like new things. The way things are is the way things should always be.
They'd probably vote Republican if they ever got the vote.

4. I feel your pain...
I have bought so many toys over the years...they prefer a piece of string. One piece of string. They fight over the piece of string. So I got more pieces of string...which they ignore to fight (not play-fight, draw-blood fight) over the one string. So I took it away and they followed me around looking for the string...for four days.

6. Thank you for reminding me it could be worse
I'm sorry to hear that your kitties get into draw-blood fights. I think it would be disturbing to watch that kind of fighting.
I have two neutered tom cats who play wrestle with each other but never really hurt each other.

7. This reminds me of the Cat Lovers' MasterCard ad campaign
The lady on the commercial mentions: "Bought the fancy bed--flop! Free box it came in--a real hit!"

Moral: either get cheap toys or make them yourself.

8. Cats love paper bags and boxes.
They can get into all kinds of boxes. I once had this really flat box-cat managed to climbed into that as well.

11. My cats are not really into boxes
But it looks like they're not really into toys either.
At least they know I made an effort. When I came in, I told them I got them something and they waited while I set it up for them. They were curious but just looked at the thing.

9. Where did you buy it?
Once bought a toy from petsmart or similar place, and I took it back and told them that my cats wouldn't play with it and they gave me store credit, so I bought cat food. It's worth a try.

10. Really?
I got it at Petco. I know they'll take back food if the cats don't like it but I didn't know their policy about toys. It's worth a try. Thanks!

13. I had the taj Mahal of cat beds. Did my cat sleep on it? Of course not.

15. Imperial protocol calls for the petitioner to approach the cats...
...while chanting the word "kitty" in properly reverential tones, to genuflect three times after placing the offering before the throne. Remember also to back away with eyes downcast. Fish is appreciated.

Adherence to protocol is no guarantee of a further audience, however.

16. That's the way it goes. I have a lovely cat cube lined with fake lambswool
for my kitty and she still prefers to sleep on by bed on top of my pajamas. She has never even gotten into the cube. She rejected it on sight.

17. I bought the Akita a loveseat
Well, it was actually my living room furniture, but he ate the loveseat until he grew out of it. I haven't the heart to throw it away.

:hi:
