You know what's really not funny?
Family guy.

I just don't find it all that funny, but lots of people love it.

Friend makes Family Guy look like Monty Python or Laugh In.

I'll watch it. But I've never seen it. Then again, you think Friends was entertaining. Tell me what you think about it, and I'll do the opposite.

I watch it occasionally. Sometimes, it's hilarious, and other times I guess I just don't get it.

My son and his friends love it. Actually had a party when they brought it back.

25. Is Family Guy the new Three Stooges?
I think FG is a guy thing, just like The Three Stooges, i.e. more men like them than women.

I watch it sometimes, but it's not a must see for me. I never watch TS, though.

33. It's outrageous
It's "OMD, I can't believe they just did that!" humor.

It's almost always irreverent, frequently gross and generally some of the best satire I've seen on Mer'kin teevee — though I must admit much of the satire seems directed by Seth McFarlane toward Seth McFarlane, as if he's showing us how clever and edgy he is. (I'd just as soon they'd dump many of the bits in which he shows us how well he can sing, too.)

I think you've gotta have a certain, special kind of twistedness to appreciate it, and I'm proud to be such a twistee. :)

40. I'll grant you that
It certainly isn't the same kind of twistedness you'd find in some British comedies, for example. But this is Mer'ka, so we take what we can get past the censors. :)

Oh — and Alex Borstein, the voice of Lois et al, is funny as fuck in her own right and oddly hot in a sort of retro-'50s way.

44. I think SNL could still be very funny, it's the current writers
that suck, I think. I think one reason SNL had such a long run is because they kept rotating with good tenured cast members and kept good writers. Except for Amy Poehler, who's now gone, the cast seems weak and their sketches weaker. They CAN do well, as shown during the primaries and election. Some of those sketches were fall down hilarious.

41. Are you worried you might be missing...
a comedy gene? Not to worry-- as with cheese, there is no accounting for taste in comedy. I don't expect everyone to share my tastes, and don't think any less of them unless thay make a big deal out if it.

Myself, I have always hated "Seinfeld" and "Friends" with a passion, but think Sarah Silverman and Carlos Mencia are hysterical. And Fraiser and Becker are still delights. Really, really, wish Dave Chapelle would come back, and, yeah, luv the classics like Honeymooners, Lucy, MTM, WKRP...

(Neutral toward "Family Guy," but do find it droll at times. Likewise IASIP, although I find anything, ANYTHING, with Danny Devito in it worth watching just because he's in it.)

Half the time you're laughing more out of shock and discomfort. I have chuckled at Family Guy, but there have been times that I've wanted to shoot the writers too.

I watched it once and couldn't "get it" for the life of me-- it seemed rather pedestrian.

But then again, it's the favorite show of a best friend (whose taste I respect), and seems to be all the rage with the Hip & Trendy twenty-something crowd (of which I'm neither..).

Who knows...?
