Who here's seen "Barcelona"?
Showtime is replaying it lately, and to me, it's a little-known gem. It's by Whit Stillman, who also did Metropolitan and The Last Days of Disco, both of which I saw - but never liked nearly as much as Barcelona.

Taylor Nichols & Chris Eigeman are hysterical and Mira Sorvino is really sexy as a Spanish trade fair girl. The writing is super-sharp and funny - and suddenly more relevant now that anti-Americanism has blossomed around the world under Shrub. Check it out if you can.

1. I prefer Metropolitan, but Barcelona's funny
What was that graffiti?

I mean, I know the subtext, but I can't recall the, you know, the message right there on the surface.

What did it say?

2. "Yankee Pigs Go Home"
Switched to "Yankee Deers" with a felt-tip pen...well, at least phonetically. ;-)

4. I don't see how it's much of an improvement--
Did that seem reminiscent of Life of Brian to you? Anyway, it was a riot. I'm going to have to watch that again.

5. Would you rather be a Yankee pig or a Yankee deer?
I miss seeing Mira at the multiplex -- she's purty. :loveya:

3. I also prefer Metropolitan
but Barcelona was very good, no argument.

Metropolitan is one of my yearly Christmas movies. I can't think of the holidays without it.

The Last Days of Disco depressed me, because there was a silly part of me that wanted to believe that Audrey and Tom lived happily ever after. :) I annoy myself when I'm a hopeless romantic.

Whit Stillman is brilliant with dialogue.

6. Saw it a long time ago, and then saw it again after visiting Barcelona...
...I liked it better the second time around, maybe because I kept watching for areas I recognized!

I think I'm like most people here--Metropolitan is my favorite.

8. Love it.
Don't know if I like "Metropolitan" better or not; both are among my favorite films.
