How long do dirty dishes remain dirty in your house?
Edited on Sun Dec-21-08 10:44 PM by arcadian
Min: I clean them as I am preparing a meal then do the plates right after eating.
Max: Over night and I do them in the morning.

I can't handle them any longer than that.

5. I try to conserve water, so
with three people in the house it takes 2 to 3 days to fill up the dishwasher. Hand wash items get washed ususally the next day or sooner. I have waited until I had more than one hand wash item so that I wouldn't waste hot water.

6. Until I clean them?!?
I suppose it is exactly the same for everyone else. Of this I am certain.

8. Single guy here
Dirty dishes build up for about a week...unless, of course, I fix a special meal.

But I always put the dishes in the dishwasher...I can't stand stuff piling up in the sink or on the counter.

10. When the dishwasher is full, the dirty dishes become magically clean
Edited on Sun Dec-21-08 11:02 PM by TommyO
If they're in there*, they might get washed the same night, they might wait a few days until I have enough to do a full load.

*corrected a major homonym abuse.

12. I stack them in the garage. They don't stay in the house.
I am a smart-ass and I know it.

The bigger question is how long does it take you to unload the dishwasher? I'm REAL bad about washing stuff by hand rather than unload that dishwasher. Makes hubby nuts to find me washing dishes by hand while the dishwasher sits there full of clean stuff.

13. depends on where they are.
Kitchen? No longer than 24 hours unless there is something serious going on - usually less than 12 hours.

In the boys' room? Months.

17. oh boy.....
I remember those days....
no matter how much I pronounced...
no eating in the bedrooms...

did they listen?
I don't think so...

I would make them clean their own
moldy stuff though...

would help for a couple weeks...

15. I usually clean them right after each meal, but occasionally...
Edited on Sun Dec-21-08 11:39 PM by mike_c
...I rinse and stack them until morning. I'm not especially fastidious about it-- it's just that I've learned it's easier to do it that way than to deal with the mess if I let it accumulate. Most go into the dishwasher, and the rest-- mostly cookware that I hand wash-- is usually only a few minutes work.

Plus, I have a house mate at the moment and we usually take turns cooking and cleaning.
