Tempertature check in
It's 29 degrees here in Central Texas. And my hat's off to those of you in colder climes. I don't do cold well at all. Thankfully it doesn't get this cold that often.

So, remind me how good I have it. :D

1. Similarly,
it's 33F (1C) in Houston. I also don't do cold. I live for summer temps

So, how "central" is "Central Texas"? :P

4. Just outside of Austin
We're expecting a high of 35. What about Houston?

(I grew up in Houston)

I could do without the 100 degree temps in summer, but the cold is horrible for me.

21. According to the National Weather Service
we're supposed to have a "high" of 42. (weekly forecast) Most of my family lives in and around Austin, so I know what the temps get like there, too.

The cold kills me, too. My nose gets cold, and I'm miserable; you don't want to be around me when I'm miserable
While some "get used to" the cold, I'm acclimated to those high 100 degree temps. I may sweat, but I'd much rather sweat that shiver!

It doesn't get cold here. I've seen real cold-I've been in places where the forecast says the high today will be -35°

5. That's what I'm talking about!
I can't even fathom -21. It's making me anxious to just think about it. I will NEVER live in North Dakota. :D

14. I visited Minnesota when I was 8
I made snow angels and went sledding. It was fun. I can say I played in the snow, but I don't want to ever do it again. :P

8. -12 in Saint Paul, MN this morning, but no wind.
So, I took the garbage out to the curb this morning in a t-shirt, without putting on my parka. As I did, my next door neighbor came out of his house to start his car to warm up...wearing just a bathrobe.

You sorta get used to the cold.

That said, I'm leaving on a jet plane tomorrow for California. Sadly, I do know when I'll be back again.

17. Kind of like during the summer here
they say "it's not the heat, it's the humidity." So in really cold weather "It's not the temperature it's the wind chill."

at -12 I'd be curled in the fetal position crying for momma.

25. Now, that's cold!
Last winter I flew into MSP in Minneapolis from Los Angeles. Very cold and snowy, so the plane was late (of course it was NWA, so it would have been late anyhow). The couple behind us missed their connection, but they were really happy about it. Their destination was Saskatoon. :bounce:

And they've just issued a Winter Storm Watch starting Tuesday afternoon thru Wednesday afternoon. This winter, Winter Storm Watches have a nasty habit of becoming Winter Storm Warnings. x(
