UPDATE: They found my brother!!
Edited on Mon Dec-22-08 07:58 PM by bicentennial_baby
He just called me to ask for help, his car is stranded between 2 hills, can't get up either of them (bad roads). He's in the middle of nowhere, and I only got the name of the town, not the location, before his cell phone died.

I called the regional dispatch and gave them the town, his name, car make and model and color, and his cell #.

It's 16 degrees where he is. I'm so worried. x(

Vibes, please?

UPDATE: The Conway Police just called me, they found my brother. He's being taken to a residence to call a tow, etc. I am SO glad I made that call.

Thank you all so much. :grouphug:

6. I'm hoping they asked for the cell # for GPS
I'm trying not to freak out, but it's so cold there and he wouldn't call me unless he was really stuck.

8. When you say "middle of nowhere"...
Do you REALLY mean "middle of nowhere", or the Boston definition, which means "someplace past Woburn"?

Regional dispatch will find a cop in the town who knows the geography and the dead spots. he is going to be fine?

9. No, Western MA hilltowns, I'm from out there
He's in Conway. Very deep rural, plenty of desolate roads.

I hope you're correct. :)

Am about a half-hour away from North Conway (NH) in Maine right now. It's really cold here.... Hope BiBaby's brother is OK

24. No, Conway MA, which is a very rural town with a lot of backroads
Depending on where he was, it's possible that nobody would have passed by him for hours. His plan was to walk down to Bill Cosby's farm and ask to use the phone. Luckily, that didn't have to happen.

:)

26. Aw, thanks so much. He's fine now, we talked after he got home
He was very grateful for me making the call. He called his friend Matt, who we affectionately call Squash (all 285 pounds of him, star linebacker on their HS football team back in the day), and Squash came out with his big pickup, and pushed my brother up the hill, and then followed him for 20 miles to the State HW.

I'm very happy that it turned out so well.
