Update on My Mom's Surgery.
My mom went inbto surgery this morning at 9am and was back in her room before lunchtime. The doctor said as far as this surgey goes, it went flawlessly.

They removed a portion of the colon, but not enough so as to require a colostomy bag.

But the doctor said based on his experience, the blockage was probably cancerous, and now we wait a few days to find out if it's benign or malignant.

He doesn't think it had spread anywhere outside of the colon, so either way, that's some good news.

and my mom is currently resting confortably in bed watching the football game and yelling at her beloved Bears for sucking so badly.

Thanks for the vibes.

4. That sounds almost exactly like my FIL's experience!
He had surgery and they got it before it spread. He did some kind of Chemo that he said wasn't bad and he is now cancer free. I am so glad to hear the surgery went well. Still sending out those vibes and thoughts for a great recovery!

12. I understand...
It really is scary...I was horrified, and must have a colonoscopy every five years due to family history. This is an important exam for everyone over 50....sometimes 40. I had many symptoms, also.
The worst part of it was getting ready to be put under, and the last thing I remember was 'This is Dr. Scope'...I turned around and saw the most handsome young MD ever...

It's hard not to concentrate on the 'what if'...please try not to go there. This is an important routine exam, so many symptoms of minor maladies send us to the MD, who must rule out anything major.

Remember, there are many symptoms of annoying little things people deal with....And most of the time it's nothing.
Keep your spirits up!

peace~

42. The pathology report is now the most important thing....
Assume its malignant and vibe on the pathology report. My mother had a very rare form of cancer (ocular) and the doctor at Johns Hospital (aside: THE BEST hospital in the wooooorld if you ask me) removed 2.7 mm of optic nerve. When we got the pathology report back, the cancer had stopped at 1.9 mm

:woohoo:

Now let's vibe on that pathology report. It IS what's next.
