Does anybody else here like "Monarch Of the Glen"?

(It's a BBC TV show about a guy from London who "accidentally" becomes laird of a decaying Scottish estate.)

I discovered it by chance in the DVD section at my library and now it's one of my favorite shows! I just started on Season Two. The new laird's father is played by Richard Briers, whom you might remember from britcom "Good Neighbors" (a/k/a "The Good Life"). Great characters and stories, great music, I like everything about it.

The show's website is here.

1. Yes, but I prefer
Hamish MacBeth. Think Northern Exposure with more character (and Robert Carlyle in the lead).

2. I've watched it a few times
Very enjoyable. They used to show it on PBS here.

3. I never got into it when I had cable, but it's in my Netflix queue now
:-)

Hamish Macbeth is another quaint country folks series, about a policeman in a small Scottish town.

The Irish R.M. is an older series about an Englishman who is sent to Ireland during the Victorian era to be a resident magistrate. The local Irish people are always outsmarting him.

A newer series about Ireland (with a Northern Exposure feel) is Ballykissangel.
