Grammar.

1a.
When you use a dependant clause in front of an independent clause does it warrant a comma?
- Ex. If a frog had wings, it wouldn't bump its ass on the ground.

1b.
What the hell is up with the word "because?"
- Does it get a preceding comma, a preceding semicolon followed by a comma, or not a dang thing?


2.
The word "filch"
- Why does it sound so damn nasty? I'm sure at some point in my life that I have filched a pack of matches or some crackers. Oddly, even typing it makes me feel like I've done something taboo.

3.
Speech Intonations as music
- Lately I've been tripping out on how people talk. I'm not concerned with dialect or word usage. It just seems to me that if you have an odd way of verbalizing your sentences that you may have a knack for advertising, newscasting, or radio. What would the study of this be called and where could I find out more about it?

although it may be spelled "feltch" - don't look it up if you don't know what it means.

#1a - yes, I think it should have a comma, but I may be wrong.

5. Well, "filch" is to steal or pilfer

as in "George Bush really filched the economy."

The other also sort of applies though too, I suppose.

I like using it in the term "felch-monkey" as in: "you, sir, are nothing but a bothersome felch-monkey, so please begone from my sight."

there has to be a specialization that studies the intonations of speech.

It almost reminds me (in my whacko brain) like those acting jokes where they emphisize different words in the same sentence.

Naturally since it is a question the pitch raises on the word "named." Well, unless you do it different; therefore, making your intonation odd and sellable. :P
