ACK! I suddenly have to purchase Xmas Dinner! HALP!
Fuck...my brother's bonus doesn't come in until Friday, so I have to go to the store tomorrow and get something to make for Xmas dinner at my parents' house.

So far, I'm thinking:

Chicken
Mashed Potatoes
Stuffing
Gravy
Rolls

Please suggest some other stuff! Nothing too crazy expensive though.

:hi:

8. I agree with the addition below of a green salad
but other than that and dessert, you've really done enough hard work this week. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

5. Go to Costco, there's tons of stuff in the food/meat section ready to heat up
like roasts, lobsters, etc. you can buy stuff that simply needs to go in the oven (already seasoned, etc.). you can also buy appetizers and dessert stuff to go with it.

Costco is a life saver. we bought the main dish for Christmas and Christmas Eve there. Affordable and easy to make.

ps-don't linger in the aisles too long. some people are impatient. :D

But I'd add a couple veggies to your menu. Asparagus, maybe some roasted Brussels sprouts?

11. If there's a Publix near you
They'll do it for you. Actually, most of this stuff can be found ready-made in most supermarkets. I'd add coleslaw, cranberry sauce and some mixed veggies, so y'all don't die of scurvy.

15. Wine, and lots of it
You're going to need it, and with a little luck, the others will drink so much that you could feed them tire tread au gratin and they wouldn't notice.

17. Asparagus!
They're remember the meal later when they pee!

Seriously, though, something green. Broc, side salad, or the glory of asparagus! You can cast it during the meal!

18. Do not listen to the philistine upthread.
Asparagus is for the spring when you can get fresh, local stalks that weren't flown in from the other end of the world.

Fresh green beans sauteed in garlic and olive oil. Or fava beans, if you're market has them, but this time of year that's probably a no.

The cucumber salad recipe I gave you.

They were sampling it at the demo station at the food coop. I get the best ideas from them.

21. cranberry sauce!
I was going to suggest cole slaw because I love cole slaw, but then I realized I was just finishing off what you could pick up at KFC. :D

You have a lot of beige stuff there, anyway, and something for color would be nice. We're doing roasted veggies here - that would be an easy cheap healthy way to add some color.
