Few View Pirated Copies Of Australia
24 December 2008 1:47 AM, PST | From Studio Briefing | See recent Studio Briefing news

Although pirated copies of the Baz Luhrmann epic Australia have been available on numerous BitTorrent sites since the film premiered last month, few people have bothered to download them, the U.K. tech site The Inquirer reported Tuesday. "There are several copies out there but all but one have no more than ten seeds," the website said. It blamed the "bum-numbing" length of the film (nearly three hours), the picture quality, and the fact that reviews of the movie were "so bad no self-respecting pirate would want a copy."

Wow, that's pretty sad - the movie is so bad that people don't even bother to steal the illegal copies.

1. I haven't seen it
But a couple came back from movie, and said it was great. Well at least the lady did. Is the movie being cut up by critics?

Anyone here seen it?

4. the reviewers are panning it
but I went to see it anyway. The reviewers ripped Moulin Rouge apart and I loved it, so I wanted to see what Baz was offering this time.

The length didn't bother me in the least. In fact they left something out that I wish they hadn't, which would have made it even longer but I don't care. I concluded the bad reviews, as with Moulin Rouge, didn't get it.

So I loved it. But I also loved Moulin Rouge, which apparently everybody else in the world hated and which Australia is nothing like.

A couple death scenes were way over the top, but mostly the acting was very good. He knows how to direct Nicole Kidman, who can get too self-conscious and wire. She put in a great comedic performance in the beginning that slowly turned to dramatic. The kid who plays Nala is spectacular. The dog was so perfect, I don't know where they found such a perfect doggie.

2. That is bad. I mean, I watched Indy4 for free, though I regretted it.

3. That made me laugh
Wow, the movie must really suck. Heck when screeners of Lord of the Rings (any of them) made to the bit torrent sites, their length didn't keep people from downloading them.
