First babies run late all the time. Plus a young mom like Bristol usually won't be real clear on her date of LMP (and teenagers aren't known for being regular anyhow,) so they quite probably had to guestimate a due date based on femoral length at ultrasound and fundal height at checkups.

and was born July 31 ! Talk about stubborn, she has been that way ever since.

I had a midwife who did not believe in inducing labor unless medically necessary, so I went every day and hooked up to a fetal moniter and made sure she was fine and in no distress and waited for nature to take its course.

Overdue babies are practically the norm for first time mothers, it is just so often now that they induce on the due date or even before more out of convenience than anything.
