Today's Seattle Snowpocalypse update.
1. I was able to move my car from it's "snow corral" out in the street.

2. I went to check on a few shopping destinations. All of their parking lots had 6-inches of slush and snow ruts reminiscent of the Oregon Trail. I decided against parking and shopping. Nothing I need right this second anyway.

3. I went to Safeway. Same deal with the parking lot, but I needed a few things, so I braved it. I successfully navigated the slush and and made it back home.

4. I made into the parking lot of my apartment complex and into a parking spot. Barely and with much wheel spinning.

5. It's snowing again, but not really sticking as the temperature is above freezing.

Stay tuned.

5. Sorry, I didn't know that.
Mostly rain, maybe a little snow mixed in here. It would be a lot worse if it was a couple of degrees colder!

2. Seattle has it easy. Try Spokane and the approximately 40 inches of snow we had this week.
If you folks would keep your moisture on your side of the cascades, we wouldn't be buried under so much snow.

:P

7. Yeah big slushy flakes in Renton right now....
I am finally off work for the week, exhausted and coughing from a cold. Spousal unit and offspring are braving some shopping at "The Landing" for a few things, then heading back to HQ for a hot stove fire, and salmon dinner.
I am from Ontario Canada, and used to snow despite liking out here for over 14 years, but this is truly too long and too much!

11. Hey neighbor!
I'm in Newcastle. I'm getting the same big flakes.

I went to the Landing earlier, and decided against fighting the crowds and 6 inches of slush in the parking lot.

8. I've been here
20 years and this is the worst snow storm in that period, in my opinion. From the perspective of freeze, thaw, snow, freeze, thaw, rain, freeze.........enough already! :)
If you are new to the area, try to get up to Anacortes and take a ferry boat ride to the San Juans.......absolutely beautiful :bounce:

Edited on Fri Dec-26-08 05:35 PM by WolverineDG
I stood & waited to help my cousin get bags out of the car; they damn near had to shovel me out! :o As it was, I had quite the accumulation of snow on my hat & shoulders.

My poor car was buried. :(

Now the snow is starting to pile up on it again.

22. Two words: studded tires
those have worked great for my cousin this year. Of course, she's also had to shovel out her car a few times as well. Never thought I'd be happy to see temps in the 40s..... ;)

I think my next car will be AWD or 4WD. Then I will get Blizzaks for the winter.

30. Who knew?
They said on the weather last night that this is the first time in 146 years that it's snowed like this in Seattle. It's snowed here before when I was up here for Christmas, but no accumulation & it was usually gone by morning.

32. From what I hear the snow is normal, the cold to make it stick is not.
If I wanted snow like this, I'd visit my SO over the mountains. :D

24. I'm sick of it!
Edited on Fri Dec-26-08 05:44 PM by SeattleGirl
Been able to get to my office once in a week and a half. Half the time, the connection I use to log on to my office server doesn't work. Appointments I made had to be canceled. On the few occasions I am able to drive somewhere, a path has to be shoveled from the car to the clear part of the road, because the snow plows have deposited a large mound of slushy snow next to my car. When I go to the store, I have to make sure I don't get too much at one time, as I have to either walk all the way home, or three blocks from the car to the house, and yes, it's uphill. x(

Somehow, I have to get the car out and get to the office today, because I have to turn all my casenotes and reports in, or I won't have a paycheck next payday.

I'm supposed to go to Oregon tomorrow, and while Eugene (my destination) has no snow, there are nasty areas between Seattle and south of Portland. And, if it does rain as much as it's supposed to, I'm concerned that there will be massive flooding in the Centralia area like there was a year or so ago, where the water completely covered I-5 for quite a stretch.

Yeah, I'm bitching, but after a week and a half, I'm really tired of this. I want to be able to go outside and walk and drive without sliding, falling, slipping, spinning, or anything like that.

27. I'm in the same boat work-wise.
Although, I can log into my network just fine. We have a lot of people that work remotely, so we have the infrastructure for it. Luckily, we are on holiday today. And, I'm off all next week, too!

I hope you can get down to Oregon OK.
