Favorite Hendrix song ?
Name the album if it's studio, or if live, name the venue. :)

If you're like me and can't name a favorite, how about some most-favored. For me, here are a few:

Isabella - Woodstock, and Dick Cavett Set
Machine Gun - Band of Gypsies (from the double album that came out a few years ago), and Isle of Wight
Red House - In the West
Bold As Love - Axis

As for Machine Gun, I especially like the anti-war message of the song and the direction that Jimi seemed to be going in musically at the time of his death (see the Cry of Love album and Rainbow Bridge soundtrack as great examples).

Thank goodness the man hardly ever played without a recorder running.

7. from electric ladyland
"1983...(a Merman I Should Turn To Be)" which segues into "Moon Turn the Tides....gently gently away" for a sublime listening experience which STILL makes the hair on my arms stand up.

12. Voodoo Child (Slight Return)
Well, I stand up next to a mountain
And I chop it down with the edge of my hand

Yeah

Well, I stand up next to a mountain
And I chop it down with the edge of my hand

Well, I pick up all the pieces and make an island
Might even raise a little sand

Yeah

’cause I’m a voodoo child
Lord knows I’m a voodoo child baby

I want to say one more last thing
I didn’t mean to take up all your sweet time
I’ll give it right back to ya one of these days

Hahaha

I said I didn’t mean to take up all your sweet time
I’ll give it right back one of these days

Oh yeah

If I don’t meet you no more in this world then uh
I’ll meet ya on the next one

And don’t be late
Don’t be late
’cause I’m a voodoo child voodoo child
Lord knows I’m a voodoo child

Hey hey hey

I’m a voodoo child baby
I don’t take no for an answer
Question no

Yeah

20. Song
One Rainy Wish is one of my favorites too. Hell, when you get down to it, they're all favorites, just depends on my mood.

I think of Jimi's studio albums, Axis doesn't get the press it deserves being sandwiched between EXP and Electric Lady. Great album from start to finish.
