CT DUers - WTIC-AM 1080 cans their only Democrats
Colin McEnroe, a funny and intelligent left-of-center host, is out, as is more moderate Democrat Diane Smith. Right-winger Ray Dunaway will continue on alone in the morning without Smith, while McEnroe will be replaced by a local news show. Right-Wing extremist Jim Vicevich's show is being expanded by an hour and will now run 9-12am before Limbaugh.

McEnroe had always been a nice counterbalance following the Limbaugh show, while Smith was a nice offset to the talkative RWer Dunaway. I guess that is gone now.

1. 1080's been going downhill for a while...
they used to have great sports coverage too until they replaced Arnold Dean with the insufferable Kevin Nathan on the evening sports-talk call-in show and invited Joe D'Ambrosio to guest-host once a week. It doesn't matter what you call about, Joe D. only talks about UConn Men's Basketball. Call about the Sox or Yanks and he turns the conversation to UConn.

On a counter-balance note, I heard that Limbaugh might be getting the local boot because he costs too much for syndication rights.

2. well, Arnold Dean is like in his 80s
or close to it, so I think he's enjoying his retirement. I've met him and been a guest on his sportstalk show - very nice guy and just a natural on the air. He did no prep work, but just discussed a few items during the commercial break, then brought up those items again when on the air, and it went very smoothly.
