Not nicely either. Start with a sledgehammer to the balls, and work my way up.

Probably why my Firefox will only launch in "Safe Mode".

Fuckers.

4. sptimes.com
isn't exactly a porn site. Shitty stupid douchebags and their shitty stupid ads are half the reason I don't visit porn sites.

This trojan only launches IE windows :eyes: but somehow my Firefox has been disabled outside of its safe mode.

7. For your sake, the other half of the reason had better be
"none of those women are half as hot as my girlfriend." We both know that's BS, but you get brownie points for saying it.

I fucking hate IE.

9. The funny thing is thanks to hacker's never ever increasing quantity and effectiveness
in their attacks on websites, ANY website has the potential to be infectious.

2. Funny that this is the first post I see right after my browser manages to crash my entire computer
and cause a reboot.

In this case it wasn't the browser itself though, my Windows Media Player is *&%ed up. I don't use it, but apparently its still the default for embedded video on webpages.

5. Why specify? Can't we just say that any person who writes or distributes a trojan,
virus, worm or anything similar should be s l o w l y lowered into a den of hyenas?

with a totally infected computer and no removal tools and given a task to perform within a limited time frame. If they fail to complete it on time waterboarding or electroshock would follow.

13. Hi, flvegan.
If you are using Windows, here are some good FREE programs that should help. If you have System Restore on, be sure to turn it off before running these programs, as spyware crap can be retained in your restore points.

Malwarebytes

Superantispyware

A-squared

If you don't already use this, Adblock Plus is the best Firefox add-on, ever. No ads, no pop-ups, nothing.

All because of crap like this.

16. Adblock Plus is great, but. . .
Every time I get linked to something on sfgate.com, their popups launch UNDER the browser window, which apparently is a loophole to the popup blocker. The damned things are always blank (i.e. Adblock is working), but there's obviously a failure of Firefox's popup blocker.

I'm surprised to hear it has been a problem.

20. I recently put on "No-Script"
Edited on Thu Jan-01-09 02:14 AM by astral
and I really like it. Just default it to not allow scripts, and allow as needed, or 'temporarily' each time, and you can re-think whether it's worth it. Seems like a pain, yeah, but lots of stuff works just fine with it running, depends on how the website was programmed.

I had a kajillion viruses recently, really, I don't know what happened. I had to re-load a bunch of stuff a bunch of times and my "Go Back" program saved my butt. One thing I noticed, here, is the CCleaner (another new addition) seems to clean things out so bad my Go Back program has hardly anywhere to go back to. I am not so sure about that program except I think the first time I ran it I really did notice my computer running faster and smoother afterwards.

Try to not to use Internet Explorer except when you absolutely have to. Just my opinion.

21. I had a nasty one like that.
I went to wash my head, came back to my computer, and 80 pop-ups with false windows error messages came up telling me to buy BS software.

I had to reformat my whole hard drive through my computer guy.

I despise pop-up windows with ever fiber of my being. I use the pop-up blocker now except when it is a site that I've been to a few times and the video preview looks really really HAWT...er, I mean interesting. O8)

Anyhow, it's a company issued computer (unless he's bought another and didn't tell me) so no, he's not getting a mac.
