I wish I knew what i wanted to do with my life

I know, most people never do, but I wish I at least had a clue. I recently got my master's degree in computer and information systems which mostly concentrated on programing. But the truth is, I really do not like programming. So, now I am trying to figure out what else I can do. But I don't even know where to start.

Not really looking for anything, just thinking out loud (or on the computer anyway)

Get real literate in some database that people have to use.

4. I felt that way when I graduated with a degree in Engineering

I ended up going into Hospital Facilities management, which allowed me to use my engineering background, while at the same time allowing me to work with people and engage in problem solving (which I enjoyed doing).

Maybe you do something similar, find a related field that still needs your knowledge of computers. Maybe administration or security or computer forensics.

the guy created the program, maintains it on his website and leases it to the folks in the industry - requires a few thousand up front and then a few hundred per month - he gets to sit at home, make the money and monitor his program/website. His price beats his competitors, they charge $50k for the software for only 2 users - addition costs for more users.

If I could program, I would find my niche like his niche.

Find you niche - good luck - I want a masters one day, I think I may go get it and teach.

Does working in IT in general interest you at all?

9. IT has lots of interesting fields

I think I would enjoy robotics or knowledge management. Those were 2 classes I actually enjoyed. I just have no idea how to go about it.

10. Hey, I never knew what I wanted to do, but I lucked out. I started my business

(advertising agency) in 1991, just when the "desktop publishing" thing was barely getting started.

So I got lucky to get into a business moel that simply did not exist five years earlier...I got to grow my business as the technology I use to do my projects grew.

You never know. You might stumble into something like I did. Be patient.
