2. Wealth and independence!!!

Lots of it...after being poor for years, I now have enough money to do whatever I feel like within reasons. It's hard to not waste it on combat boots and video games.

I got a better job working as a freelancer (obscene pay (variable but substantial. ~=$50/hr.) but I have to pay all my own benefits (health, vision, dental, retirement, long and short-term disability, etc.) and I'm not accruing credits towards Soc. Sec. either.) That was actually my X-mas present from my best friend. I figure take-home to be about $20/hr. but I can tax-deduct the rest.

So I quit my job and they had to pay me for 35 hours of accrued vacation time so that was a large check (about $400). Also I get back all my contributions to the company stock plan for this quarter. (another $300). I also got $1100 from back-owed tips.

Then I got $300 from the parents for X-mas.

I also got $100 in Barnes and Noble giftcards and $100 in Macy's giftcards.

My aunt, knowing that I'm moving, gave me several tons of used housewares and furniture. Literally.

So...I'm moving. That's the best gift...it's my gift to me.
