Oh yes he did. :)

What a great game!!
They came from a so-so season with lots
of last minute losses and they rocked the
house tonight.

Go Bolts!!!

:woohoo:

5. Someone is shooting fireworks down the street!

San Diego must be CRAZY right now.

Hell, we don't have an LA team anymore, so the

Chargers are our team too!

11. I live a mile
from Qualcomm (as the crow flies) My house sits on Murphy Canyon... We hear the cannon fire off every time the Chargers make a touchdown.

That was one of the best football games I have ever watched.. a real cliffhanger throughout. My husband, who never watches football, came and watched the last 20 minutes - even he was into it for that short period.

We are happy to share the Chargers with L.A. :)

13. The Epic in Miami
Edited on Tue Jan-06-09 02:27 AM by ZombyWoof
(Disclosure: San Diego native and lifelong Chargers fan here)

January 2, 1982: The AFC Divisional Playoff in the Orange Bowl in Miami.

The Chargers vs. The Dolphins.

The Chargers led at the end of the 1st Quarter, 24-0. An easy win, right?

But being the Chargers, they are required by law to give their fans cardiac arrests every game, usually in rapid succession. So for this one, it goes into OT, tied at 38-38. Kellen Winslow blocked Miami's FG to seal the OT.

SD missed their first FG try in OT, which meant if Miami got another try, Winslow may not be able to repeat such a feat. The heat and humidity were stifling, and both teams were exhausted.

So... Miami goes for a FG AGAIN in OT, and this time, Leroy Jones blocked it! Holy fuck.

Then FINALLY, SD gets a second FG try, and wins 41-38, with a little more than a minute of OT remaining. There was MUCH more to the game than I can describe here, but Don Shula himself said it may have been the greatest game ever played, and the general view now this many years out is that it is the greatest game ever played in the post AFL-NFL merger era which began in 1970.

I proudly wore my authentic Dan Fouts jersey to school the next day (this was 9th grade), and the consensus was that neither team deserved to lose. (I beg to differ, being that the outcome went our way).

One week later, the Chargers broke our hearts yet again when they lost the to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship, experiencing 59 below zero wind chill temps. It was awful shit. After the 90+ heat and humidity of Miami, the Chargers experienced a 144 degree drop in temperature - the largest one week turnaround known in NFL history for a team.

It's not easy being a Bolts fan, but if you live through the heart attacks and gut-wrenching sorrow, it CAN be fun. Sometimes. :D

15. I have cursed
them and loved them. I have turned off games and said "fuck this shit." I have had season tickets and never missed a game. I have been disappointed time after time... But for some reason I just keep coming back.

What do you think will happen this coming weekend? :hi:

17. LOL
I have been known to change the channel and swear off of them forever - which last 2 minutes at the shortest and one week at the longest. But those lightning bolts are laced with crack, and I stupidly keep returning.

I REFUSE to predict ANYTHING. I'll just be in a suspended state of anxiety through Sunday. :D
