All this potato ole talk has me wondering...what are some regional taco places
in your neck o' the woods? Around here, so dangerously close to the soulless suburbs, we only have Taco Bell. But in Iowa we had Taco John's, home of those tasty ole's, and Taco Tico, with the cheapest full meals on the planet. I deeply miss them both!

What you got?

1. North (and now Central) Texas has Taco Bueno. Here in the PNW, we have Taco Time.

4. We had a little place near here named "Taco Time" and the chain
which has no places anywhere near here, threatened to sue them. At least, that was the rumor. So, now it's "Happy Taco". Not a chain, just one small place owned by a Mexican family (real Mexicans running a taco place! :wow:).

11. deep fried bean burritos at Taco Time = SOOOOO GOOOD
We were stationed in Tacoma for awhile when I was little, and a good friend of ours was their regional manager. The last time I had one was when I was in DC--there was a Taco Time very briefly in the food court at Pentagon City mall.

We had Taco Bueno in Texas last week--I miss them!

10. I've found that the best way to fight those cravings
is to move 300 miles away. So far, it's working great!

7. Tijuana Flats!
I first ate there in the original T. Flats in Winter Park, FL. Franchises are springing up everywhere. Fantastic food at good prices, very casual. If the majority of your servers aren't pierced in six places, it's probably not authentic. Their big thing is the hot bar--a variety of hot sauces.

Get the rice bowl--not on the menu, but the best meal for your buck.

12. There aren't any.
Well...there's the bell, but where isn't Taco Bell these days? We have a couple of really amazing authentic Mexican restaurants here in central CT called Puerto Vallarta. They don't serve tacos though.
