1. Answers
1. Mouse is terribly skittish and runs away from us. This bugs me to no end.

2. Iams dry food, Fancy Feast wet food, Pounce cat treats, catnip

3. I buy whatever clumping litter is on sale. Because I am cheap.

4. Kittrinka - or more affectionately known as Tinky. She passed away about 4 years ago.

5. I had a period of about 10 years without a cat before Tinky, because I was young and too mobile for pets.

50. sounds like you do give your kitties the best food, though...
I bet that 10 years was barren, wasn't it?? If I had all the cats that owned me put together, I would probably have to open a shelter! XXXXOOOO

2. My Cat Answers:
Edited on Mon Jan-05-09 08:01 PM by ocelot
1. What's the most annoying habit of a current cat in your household? Jeoffry licks me; Pixie digs in house plant dirt and knocks the pots over; and Milo sheds enough fur to build a dozen extra cats with.

2. Which dry food do you feed the cat(s) and why? Which wet food? Wellness, canned and dry, most of the time. Sometimes I also buy Indigo Moon.

3. Which cat litter do you buy and why? I order a kind that comes in big jugs of blue crystals, which absorb moisture and smells very effectively. Can't think of the name right now.

4. What is/was the name of your all time favorite cat? I've had cats since the '60s and they are all my favorites.

5. What's the longest time that you've lived without a cat? I haven't been totally catless since 1965 except for when I lived in a dorm in college.

51. Great answers!
I forgot to tell that my kitty Larry just has to intersperse herself between whatever I am reading (book--she lays on it--computer? she sticks her butt in my face so I can't see the screen!) She is also the premier mouse-killer of the house. There is no life without cats!!

3. Okay
1. What's the most annoying habit of a current cat in your household? I have to pick just one? ;) I would say its the occasional claw in the ass to wake me up...

2. Which dry food do you feed the cat(s) and why? Which wet food? I feed them science diet oral care dry. Cause my vet said they needed large piece dry food to clean their teeth and that is fairly nutritious AND (here's the key) they like it. For wet food..They get Fancy Feast Special Menu. Again..because they LIKE it and the vet said it wasn't bad.

3. Which cat litter do you buy and why? I used to do Tidy Cat but I found one called Ever Clean that clumps much better.

4. What is/was the name of your all time favorite cat? Turtle :) although Sophie and Smokie are close...

5. What's the longest time that you've lived without a cat?I never had a cat until about 10 years ago..But since then from October 2005 (when Turtle passed) to June 2007 when a friend found my current cats wandering in his yard....

4. Here you go...
1. Spencer likes to poop outside the box. Right outside of it. Grr.
2. Royal Canin Special 33 because Kyra has digestive issues and, well, you don't want to know what happens when she eats other foods.
3. Fresh Step crystals because it works best with the auto-scoop box.
4. That's like naming a favorite kid, isn't it? But I'll go with Jesse, who was the bestest kitten ever.
5. The only time I didn't have a cat for more than a few months was between the ages of 0-4. After that I've always had one, though during college he lived with my parents.

Have been through at least 4 of those, finally gave up on them. One of these days, I am gonna take the remaining one apart and see what in hell is going on with the motor....it seized up and made a horrible noise, so I just flung it aside....

5. Good Questions, here are my answers:
Edited on Mon Jan-05-09 08:03 PM by yellowdogintexas
1. My current group of cats is not particularly annoying. ONe yowls, one whines, one has kneading issues, one doesn't sleep with us often.
editing to change annoyance. My Siamese old guy goes to the box once a day and empties his entire bladder one time. Floods the box and creates really gross and difficult to scoop clumps. In the corner of the box, always.

2. Dry food is HILL's Science Diet, usually the diet formula because our younger cats are too fat

Wet food is mostly given to our old cat, as he needs extra. He gets 2 small cans of Fancy Feast daily. The others get one can split amongst the 3 of them in the morning. HIs favorites are the ones in the green cans.

3. PETCO litter that you turn in recycleable buckets for. Because of the recyclable buckets, less trash. Pretty good litter.

4. No question, all time favorite cat was Atlas, who owned me from 1978 to 1986. Thomas, my current elder cat is a close second.

5. Longest time I have lived without a cat? The 3 years I lived in a college dormitory. Summers, I had cats. So I would say 9 months.

1) Batting my face when I'm typing on the computer in order to get my attention. Yes, kitty, I see you. No need to smack me.
2) No brand loyalty. Whatever the cheapest food is that has only real ingredients, primarily meat, with no by-products. Also, we feed kitty a lot of meat that we don't eat. She loves picking over the chicken carcasses.
3) Fresh Step clumping. It clumps the best, and stinks the least.
4) Actually, it was a pair of siamese brothers. One was a big, heavy set cat, a real strong thing, and the other was a runty, scrawny cat, the runt of the litter with a pathetic howl-mewl. The big one was called 'Marco' and the little one was 'Polo'. Those cats were the best. Both were also mad, ear sucking fiends. Not a fun way to wake up. :D
5) 6 months.

7. Okey Dokey
1. What's the most annoying habit of a current cat in your household? Esther deciding to scratch or clean herself while sitting next to my pillow in the middle of the night. It shakes the whole bed, lol.

2. Which dry food do you feed the cat(s) and why? Which wet food? Hills's Science Brand food, Adult light. She won't eat wet food

3. Which cat litter do you buy and why? Scoop Away, because it clumps good and easy to scoop away, :P

4. What is/was the name of your all time favorite cat? Esther

5. What's the longest time that you've lived without a cat? 20 years

8. Five answers
1. What's the most annoying habit of a current cat in your household?

It's either the way he waits until I'm comfortably sitting on the sofa with a cup of tea, a book and a throw to decide he wants to go out or it's the way he simply HAS to trot along in front of me and then stop abruptly.

2. Which dry food do you feed the cat(s) and why? Which wet food?

He gets Science Diet for Mature Cats over 7 years old with hairballs. I mean cats with hairballs - the food doesn't have any. :P Oh, and he likes the little packets of Whiskas but he only licks the juice off the bits of meat and leaves the rest.

3. Which cat litter do you buy and why?

N/A

4. What is/was the name of your all time favorite cat?

Simon (his sisters were Alvin and Theodore)

5. What's the longest time that you've lived without a cat?

Not long - maybe a couple of years if that.

pieces of meat. Then he would stare at the cubes like, I'm NOT eating this shit.

I fixed his wagon though, now I mash it up and he has to eat everything. Works like a charm. Hey, he's 17 and a little senile, what can I say?

2. Used to cook for her, but Wellness when I can get it, Iams if I run out before next trip to Tucson. No wet food.

3. cheapest unscented I see, or just sand

4. Ozzy. Little black fuzzball I got in college. Roommate let him out and he got run over.

5. 18 or 19 years, my dad was "allergic" (read: hates) although there were barn cats here at the ranch

10. ahhh...
1) Pickles jumps on my keyboard. Pretzel scritches in the tub waiting for water drips to show up as he is too good for the water bowl right next to him, and if the drips won't go he calls me until I make the faucet do its thing. (1 or 2am is a fave time for that x()

2) Purina indoor grassy kibble, and purina loaf wet food. Been with those since the toxic pet food scare and Pretz getting sick with thyroid troubles.

3) Cheap clay stuff to absorb odor and moisture, but I layer cedar shavings under and over it to prevent muddy tracks all through the house.

4) They all iz favrites! :loveya:

5) No kitteh at college, and first year of marriage. Got Picky and Pretz for our first wedding anniversary in 1994. :D

11. Here's five answers for you.
1. What's the most annoying habit of a current cat in your household?
None of my kitties have annoying habits. I, however, seem to annoy each one of them in different ways.

2. Which dry food do you feed the cat(s) and why? Which wet food?
Blue Buffalo for both, and they love it.

3. Which cat litter do you buy and why?
Fresh Step self-clumping multi-cat mixed with an organic blend my son buys whose name escapes me at the moment.

4. What is/was the name of your all time favorite cat?
Snowball. Ostensibly my daughters Turkish Angora, he glommed onto me as his best friend when he was a kitten. Smartest animal I ever knew; he would fetch specific toys when asked to, and would hide my keys if he thought I was leaving. Gone ten years next month, and I still miss my buddy.

5. What's the longest time that you've lived without a cat?
Never had a cat until I was forty-one years old. Now I have six.

13. Well,
1. Dexter has a thing for toilet paper. We have to be vigilant about keeping the bathroom doors closed, otherwise he pulls the paper completely off the rolls and shreds it into tiny, impossible to pick up pieces.

2. He only likes cheap food, so he eats Kit and Kaboodle or Purina one. He would prefer to eat Alley Cat, but I don't buy it. He never eats wet food.

3. We buy Tidy Cat for multiple cats because the cheap food is not good for his digestive system, and this keeps the smell down.

4. I'm partial to Muffy, the Siamese cat we had when I was child. He lived to be 21.

5. We didn't have a cat between 1991 and 2006 because we had dogs who hated cats. The last dog we had we got AFTER the cat, and that worked out better.

14. Kitteh answers
1. What's the most annoying habit of a current cat in your household?

After she takes a dump, Pippy spends about ten minutes (seriously) digging at her litter box, the floor, and the walls, but still leaves a stinky little log in plain view.

2. Which dry food do you feed the cat(s) and why? Which wet food?

Mostly Hannaford's store brand stuff, though I will sometimes give them some Fancy feast tuna.

3. Which cat litter do you buy and why?

Cedarific. Shaved cedar sawdust. It's absorbent, and it minimizes the ammonia stink much better than the clay litter.

4. What is/was the name of your all time favorite cat?

I've loved all of them, and I won't play favorites. Brianna, my current calico, is the biggest daddy's girl of the bunch.

5. What's the longest time that you've lived without a cat?

From 1993-2000. I lived in apartments with no-pet rules, and it sucked. In law school,a weird thing would happen. Every spring, right around final exams, the neighborhood cats would send an envoy to check on me. Without fail, a cat would stop by the apartment and hang out with me while I was fretting over my grades.

4. Jessie, the bed-pooper.

5. Maybe a week. Life's too short to live without a cat.

She doesn't do it when I have the petsitter take care of them. Only when my son or daughter is watching her. She's a big Norweigian Forest Cat, and she totally rules the house! Actually, my son has been away for a month, and I found that she pooped on his bed yesterday. Maybe she's jealous of the "kids"?

and half blind. We are contemplating keeping the older one sequestered in the basement with the box at night because he is deucing it up more and more upstairs. Last week I caught him in the act, trying to poop on my COUCH!!

That vet's explanation sounds pretty out there.

16. Answers ...

1. I need more space. Franky has perhaps the most annoying collection of behaviors of any cat who has allowed me to share his home with him. All these behaviors are mostly adorable, but still obnoxious. I guess the one I won't ever get used to is his burning need to make biscuits on my face when I go to bed. It's tradition. He will crawl over, around, and under any obstacles to get at my face, kneed me for a few minutes, and then go snuggle by my legs.

2. Science Diet, dry. No wet. He likes Science Diet, and it's good for him. Wet food makes him puke more.

3. Some cheap clay stuff. He's not picky really about his litter ... unless someone else messes with it of course.

4. Petey. (RIP)

5. About 10 years. I lived with someone for a long time that had a dog that would kill cats for sport.

2. Right now it is EVO and Taste of the Wild for dry. EVO for canned.

3. Just got some pine litter that I have yet to try. She does not like the clumping clay litter.

4. Abbie - she better be there when I leave this life!

18. *lol* I'll play!
1. Sneaking into the workshop and pissing in the sawdust, even though her litterbox is five steps away...
2. Purina Indoor Cat formula; just have always been a Purina girl (uncle used to work for them, we always fed our dogs Purina while I was growing up); occasional Fancy Feast for treats (they particularly like Trout Feast)
3. We use Tidy Cats; it's the least dusty we've found, and my husband is asthmatic, so that's important
4. RioEtra Ermintrude Consuela Cleveland. We just call her Rio, but that's her whole name (minus, of course, her secret name, known only to her...)
5. About 10 years. Haven't been without one for the last 16 or so now.

1. Max, the 10 month old, has a habit of planting his ass in front of the monitor when I'm surfing DU.

2. Meow Mix (dry), because they love it. When I can afford it, the cats prefer Friskies.

3. Fresh Step non-clumping litter. It really absorbs the stink.

4. My favorite cat was my late Maine Coon, Sylvester.

5. The longest time I ever lived without a cat was the 5 years I was in college. My housing didn't allow pets; not enough room to keep a cat.

Why?

Sunday Girl has IBD and cannot stomach any other kind of food I've tried. This is the only one she can handle, other than some cooked food.
Wet: Whatever we are eating. No canned food.

3. Which cat litter do you buy and why?
Scoop Away

Why?

It clumps nicely, it's fairly inexpensive compared to the others and doesn't smell as "chemically" or overly "scented" like the others do to me.

4. What is/was the name of your all time favorite cat?

Sunday Girl. I raised her on a bottle and she is now 16 years old. I hope she lives to see 21 at least. I wish I could go before she does. So, I won't have to see her go.

5. What's the longest time that you've lived without a cat?

Pawracket was my aunt's cat. She stayed by my mother's side while she was pregnant with me. She would watch my mother's stomach and purred when I moved. She would lay her face on my mother's stomach, purr, and constantly watch over her while my mother was pregnant with me. After I was born, Pawracket stayed with me and watched over me and left my mother alone.

Pawracket and Priss (her daughter) would sleep in my crib a lot until I was born. After I was born, they slept on a night table and watched me. They never slept in the crib again after I was born, but they kept an eye on me. If I moved or woke up in my crib, Pawacket would go screaming in Siamese for my mother. She once bit my mother's ankle to wake her up when I woke up in the crib and started crying.

Pawracket was VERY protective over me and once killed a water moccasin when I was outside playing near some pine straw. She also once chased a burglar out of the house, out of my room. The odd thing about these two incidences is that she HATED the outdoors and normally would not go outside. She would only watch out the window when it was open if I was outside. She never liked the outdoors at all, but went outside to chase the burglar from my room and went outside to kill the water moccasin. Both times, she broke the screen to do it. She always guarded over me and protected me.

Pawracket was my best friend when I was a little kid. She hated children, except me. She'd let me do everything with her. She even let me put pajamas on her when it was time for us to go to bed. She hated all other kids, ACTIVELY. She would rub her chin on the door frame and meow sweetly until one of my cousins (or any kids, really) would think she wanted them to pet her. Then, when they tried to pet her, she'd ball up her paw and hit them. She was de-clawed, but from what I hear she could really pack a punch. They always cried so hard when she'd punch them. She never punched me. So, I don't know what all their bawling was about. I don't know why she didn't like children in any other case, but did like me. Nobody could ever figure that one out. She died when I was 10 years old. I cried like a baby then. I still miss her sometimes. She was there from the time BEFORE I was even born. It's hard to lose one like that when you are that close to them. And WE WERE CLOSE. I can still remember her pretty blue crossed eyes so well. I miss her.

After that, my grandmother let me feed some strays at her house and I got really attached, but wasn't allowed to take any home with me. My grandmother wanted me to have one, but my mother always said no. So, my grandmother took one in just so I'd have a friend to play with when I stayed with her. I stayed with her a lot growing up. So, it worked out.

She went into a rest home when I was 17 and died within the year. So no more cats for a while. I didn't get a cat of my own, for reals, until I was 18. So, I count that as about a year without a cat. I was miserable for that year too.

25. Five answers

1. What's the most annoying habit of a current cat in your household? - Trying to get out EVERY time I open the front door. This cat could be sound asleep, and no matter how quietly I try to open the door, ZING!

2. Which dry food do you feed the cat(s) and why? Which wet food? - I buy a different one each time and never serve the same type twice in a row. What's on sale generally dictates my choices.

3. Which cat litter do you buy and why? - Fresh Step, because my girlfriend tells me to.

4. What is/was the name of your all time favorite cat? - Houdini.

5. What's the longest time that you've lived without a cat? - Since my first one, about six weeks.

35. Answers...
1. Most annoying? I work from home typing on deadlines, but when he decides he wants on my lap -- this is a 20-pound Russian Blue mix tomcat -- there is no denying him. Then he looks up at me with those big green eyes with the whiskers above his eyes just so and it's like work, what work?

2. Iams regular. He won't eat wet food.

3. Fresh Step clumping is what I'm using now because I got to Costco. If not, I'll use the Wal-Mart store brand.

4. Doo-Dad. She was the cat I had when I was finishing college. She was the prettiest cat I've ever seen, white with calico markings, medium to long hair. Then I moved and she ran away. (I don't blame her. The guy turned out to be a complete asswipe.)

5. Since then, I've only been without a cat for a couple of months at a time at most.

37. Here's mine
1. What's the most annoying habit of a current cat in your household?

One kneads the crap out of my tummy, complete with a bit of nail. Ouch! The other finds any tiny plastic WMUette at about 2:30 a.m. and bats it around our bathroom floor creating a loud racket. She chews plastic, too. Makes a weird sound.

2. Which dry food do you feed the cat(s) and why? Which wet food?

Meow Mix for indoor cats. No wet food. The treats I can't rememeber but the package is blue and it is for hairballs. One of our cats chewed through the package to get more out!

3. Which cat litter do you buy and why?

Tidy Cat (Blue lid). We tried a lot of them, this seems to be the one they like, although we will be switching to Cat Attract. We are hoping one of our cats gets over her penchant for marking one special spot in the dining room. We have tried everything!

4. What is/was the name of your all time favorite cat?

Daisy - a beautiful Calico who would nuzzle your face lovingly then take a little nip of your nose! We called them 'love bites'.

5. What's the longest time that you've lived without a cat?

Probably about 4 years - the time between high school and getting my own place. :)

39. All rightie then
1. Most annoying habit? Easy! Clover the neurotic runt refuses to poop in the litter box. EVER. If she's in a good mood, she'll poo on the plastic sheeting I put down outside the boxes. (Luckily we have a tiny "bedroom"--although I suspect it was a trunk room as there's no closet and no ceiling light--that is the litter box room exclusively and we can close the door most of the way.) If she has a hairball, she'll gack up some saliva, then get pissed off and poo wherever she happens to be at the moment. (NASTY!) I should carry my Method Pink Grapefruit cleaning spray in a holster on my belt.

2. Iams dry for sensitive tummies for Dilbert, our alpha male who'll just as soon barf as look at you. Natural Balance wet food. LOTS of it.

3. Tidy Cat multiple cat formula. Four boxes for three cats. Changed once a week before trash day. (No clumping litter, as our other female, Jasmine, tends to get UTIs from the dust.)

4. Jasmine's my buddy. I picked her out. Well, she picked me out. She's also my familiar--she likes to hang out and watch me do magic.

5. Thirty-one years. My mom hated cats, so we never had any when I was growing up. Luckily Mr. MG has always been a cat person, so we started adopting strays as soon as we bought a house together.

1. my fat cat will sit and yowl sometimes when we're outside smoking or lying in bed with the bedroom door open. if i didn't know she was fixed, i'd swear she was in heat by the noises she makes.

2. meow mix. it's what we always fed our cats at home and the girls are fine with it. no wet food for the monsters. they'd never leave me along.

3. tidy cat clumping for multiple cats. again, it's what we used at home and i have no problems with it.

4. that's a tough one, but i'm going to have to go with sweetie. brought her home 11 years ago when she was just six months old. she's one of the sweetest, smartest cats i've ever known.

42. Ok, here you go:
1. What's the most annoying habit of a current cat in your household?

Chaucer will look for and then carry plastic into the bedroom at night-- then he chews on it. Makes the MOST disgusting sound in the world and I always get up and take it away from him because I'm worried he'll swallow it.

2. Which dry food do you feed the cat and why? Which wet food?

Purina prescription stuff in a turquoise bag... EN maybe? Kitty had some kind of liver/gallbladder thing a year or so ago and the vet suggested this food because she suspected he had gallbladder stones. I have to buy it at the vet's office and I just walk in an announce that Fattypuss Rex is in danger of starvation and they sell me another bag. No other food except for the occasional bit of smoked salmon for treat.

3. Which cat litter do you buy and why?

Whatever clumping stuff is on sale. He hates the clay stuff and refuses to use the crystal stuff, so his highness gets the clumping stuff. I do try and buy multi cat formula in spite of the fact that he is an "only child" because the little turd will get in his box and scratch for five minutes before he'll do anything. If I have not scooped yet he will actually break up the clumps unless I get the multi cat stuff.

4. What is/was the name of your all time favorite cat?

Right now I live with Chaucer and he is my favorite. Before him I lived with Tillie(you bitch) for 17 years and SHE was my favorite. Before her it was Munchkin and before him it was Kat... I subscribe to the "love the one you're with" theory of pets.

5. What's the longest time that you've lived without a cat?

Two years of college life were spent without a cat in my abode. I had one still living at my parents and I was miserable without a hairball to share my life. Finally, I snapped, ditched the roommate, and moved the cat in. Life was much improved.

She wakes up early and decides she is hungry and cold and that we should get up and do something about it.

2. Which dry food do you feed the cat(s) and why? Which wet food?
Purina One Senior dry food and Friskies wet canned food.

3. Which cat litter do you buy and why?
Tidy cat regular multiple cat formula. Our cat is nearly seventeen years old. We have used this all her life, so I am not going to switch now.

45. I'll play...
1. What's the most annoying habit of a current cat in your household?

Oldest (17) whine incessantly for food, and has some lax bowel controls (leaves an Abba turd here and there around the house). The youngest eats and then pukes, but not as often since I changed his food.

2. Which dry food do you feed the cat(s) and why? Which wet food?

My cats are both on a new dry food from Waltham, it has no wheat or soy in it, just pure chicken. Cats have a hard time digesting wheat, it makes them spew. Oldest cat gets BIO wet pouch food, whatever his heart desires. We're just happy he is eating.

3. Which cat litter do you buy and why?

CatSan. Clumping litter, they like it.

4. What is/was the name of your all time favorite cat?

The Demon. He's 8, 9 in May. Oh my baby is growing up!!

5. What's the longest time that you've lived without a cat?

I've had a cat for 17+ years now. Before that my girls had guinea pigs. Honestly, cats are easier!

49. lthat's a good one...
I can't say that this is an annoying cat habit, but recently, my oldest kitty acts really weird when I pet him. He starts sticking his tongue out and spazzes out when I pet him. WTF?? It is really weird.

Have been feeding my kitties Meow Mix, or Purina Green, for dry food. Not sure what my brother has been giving them for wet food. Must be something with LSD in it, though.

Cat litter: Scoop Away? Something that smells good

Original first kitty" Weebles. My Grandmother had a killer kitty that was double pawed and drooled, too. He was named Seymour! It's hard to name a favorite, when I have had such good luck with cats with personalities! Have 3 right now....there is no life without cats!!!!

Lived without cats for the first 16 years of my life and have not lived without kitties since!!

Great questions! Thanks for asking!

57. Four cats...
Edited on Tue Jan-06-09 06:49 AM by badgerpup
...and THREE of them have the 'annoying habit' of placing their lithe furry little selves right exactly in the traffic pattern so that one has to step OVER them...and hope they stay PUT during the process and not jump up and complicate things, thereby getting tripped over and/or stepped on.
Edit to add: Wimsey nips my ankles if he feels he's being ignored or dissed. He's never broken the skin (so far!), but he does have very sharp teeth...

2). For dry, they get Diamond Active Cat (chicken and rice)...it's right up there in quality with IAMS and Science Diet but it's much easier on my budget. For wet, they get occasional Friskies with olive oil drizzled on it...
They also get to play 'meat inspector' when I'm cooking...I'll cut up a small portion for them and put it into their fancy little cut-glass 'treat dishes'.

3). Litter Perfect...I get it at Costco. It works well for a multi-cat household.

4). Don't really have a 'favorite'...10 cats over the last 23 years, four of whom are with me now.

5) First seven years of my life...but I wasn't really 'owned' until I hit 17 and a timid spazz of a kitten decided I was her human and stayed with me for 18 and a half years...Jasmine, aka Fuzz.

58. Five answers from one owned by a cat.
1. What's the most annoying habit of a current cat in your household?
Lucy lays in wait & nips me just as I'm getting into the shower.

2. Which dry food do you feed the cat(s) and why? Which wet food?
Meow Mix Natural. Tuna water once in a blue moon. Doesn't care for people food otherwise.

3. Which cat litter do you buy and why?
Cheap stuff from Big Lots. He only uses the box when he absolutely has to--too cold or snowy to use the great outdoors.

4. What is/was the name of your all time favorite cat?
Dutchess. She showed up in the wood pile one day.

5. What's the longest time that you've lived without a cat?
5 years. We weren't supposed to have cats in the complex. More & more cats showed up & the management gave up.
There's about 11 right now. Some innies, some outies. Their hierarchy is interesting. Very little fighting. Some visiting from apartment to apartment. Lucy has been known to go crash out on someone else's bed.

60. Good questions
1. Every morning between 9 and 10, Dinah, one of our two cats, starts yowling as though she were in heat. She went into heat just once, around 6 months, before we got her and her sister Salem spayed. It was hell. She kept backing up to my astonished husband, tail swishing, like a feline fatale. Since that time, 4 years ago, she's been doing the morning yowls.

2. Wellness cat food. They won't touch wet food or any kind of people food except yogurt. I give them plain yogurt a couple of times a week and usually keep a pot of catgrass for them to nibble.

3. Scoop something-or-other from Costco. Fairly cheap. I hate the fact that it's scented, though.

4. Our all time favorite cat was a sweet Maine Coon cat named Rooney. She used to follow us up and down the sidewalk like a dog. She died when she was 15.

5. The first 12 or so years of my life, although we borrowed our neighbor's cat a lot.

61. 1. Sitting on the heat vent and hogging it all. 2. NO dry food ever. Diabetes. The theory about dry
food being good for their teeth has been debunked, and cats are carnivores. My cat overcame diabetes a few years ago (thanks to a remarkable short-term insulin treatment) and I haven't yet found a dry food that isn't packed with grains and other carbs. My vets fully believe dry food is why feline diabetes is totally out of control right now and, based on my cat's turnaround from diabetes, I believe them. I was feeding him Newman's Own wet food but it got too expensive, now I feed him a mixture of the Whole Foods 365 wet food with a frozen food from New Zealand (also from Whole Foods) which he LOVES. Sometimes he gets straight up chicken as well. He's almost 16 and doing great.

3. I buy whichever eco-friendly litter is on sale when I'm shopping.

4. Frankie. :loveya: He's my current cat and I adore him. I found him orphaned when he was 2 weeks old along with his brother. His brother died 5.5 years ago. :(

5. Birth-22. I wasn't allowed any pets but fish and hamsters as a child and it sucked. If I have a child they will have at least one dog and one cat. Pets offer unconditional love and acceptance, and teach responsibility and empathy.

I buy litter at Aldi's - I think it is called cat's choice. It comes in white jugs. 1. What's the most annoying habit of a current cat in your household?

Ed and Eddy lick plastic, Lil Girl and Eddy mew way too early in the morning for breakfast, Bella insists on sitting on my lap when I’m eating breakfast and I have my laptop.

2. Which dry food do you feed the cat(s) and why? Which wet food?

KD for Lil Girl because of her kidneys (she’s 15 years old). CD for Ed and Eddy because we spent way too much money saving Ed’s little pink thingie when he got sick. The rest get whatever national brand is on sale.

3. Which cat litter do you buy and why?

Lil Girl has her own self cleaning cat box. She gets the clumping litter. The rest get whatever is on sale.

4. What is/was the name of your all time favorite cat?

Kitty Precious Baby! He walked into our house when I was 8 years old. Black and white preciousness. When he was offended he would run out of the room, and if you didn’t follow him he would peek his head out from the hallway and mew until you went to him and gave him hugs. He died when I was 18.

1. What's the most annoying habit of a current cat in your household?

Daddy is constantly underfoot in the kitchen or jumping onto the counters when we're cooking. No amount of squirtage will repel him for long. He also comes to us when we're eating, demanding the food on our plates. Again, squirtage is useless.

2. Which dry food do you feed the cat(s) and why? Which wet food?

Two kinds of dry: one for "sensitive stomach" (it cuts down on barfage) and one other, which will vary. Right now it's one supposedly formulated for indoor cats. Wet food is the grocery store version of little cans like Fancy Feast

3. Which cat litter do you buy and why?

The clumping kind that they sell at PetsMart, because it's the least expensive.

4. What is/was the name of your all time favorite cat?

Too many to name, but I'll say Harry because he's still with us. He's 14 1/2 years old. :loveya:

5. What's the longest time that you've lived without a cat?

1. One of ours likes to use the litter box in the next room in the middle of the night, which wouldn't be a problem if she didn't spend ten minutes energetically scratching the sides of the box. Just cover it and be done already.
