I have another mouth to feed.
I've taken in a rescue dog- it's a golden retriever, about ten months old. He was abused and neglected, and he was always breaking loose and roaming. But he's a friendly puppy, willing to love and play and have fun, and he at least knows what a leash is for. He also doesn't mind riding in cars (thank heavens for that!).

I've had him here for a couple hours, and we're both going through getting-to-know-you jitters. He wants out (I"ve taken him out twice just to make sure we're not getting our signals crossed), he doesn't want to eat his food (I've seen him sneaking a few bites), and right now he's finally relaxing by the front door, sleeping.

He's not a newborn. He has his ways, and I have mine, and we have to find that middle ground. Right now I think he's actually a bit lonely for his old family, even if they ignored him. I hope he understands what I'm trying to do for him.

No pics as of yet- give us time to get to know each other.

2. Ah, good on you.
Give him a day. He's like a little kid off to camp right now. At a great place, but misses his family. First day is never much fun.

Ah, now I'm getting the backstory...

He sounds wonderful, and given what he did for you upthread, I'd say he's a keeper!

Lucky pup...
