A kitten question:
After we lost Siggy the cat and Jack the dog around Thanksgiving, my daughter announced at school that we were in the market for a puppy and/or kitten. One of her teachers has a son attending a local college. The son's cat had kittens, so the teacher said he'd bring all three over to let us take our pick. That was about 3 weeks ago. He keeps putting off bringing the kittens over. I suspect that this is a case of someone whose head says to give the kittens away, but his heart can't let go. Do you think we ever will actually see these kittens?

1. They have to stay with the mother for several weeks post birth...
do you have any idea how long ago they were born? I think it's 8 weeks, but I could be totally off the mark.

2. It's not clear whether they were born last summer or last fall.
They're past the 8 week mark for sure. At this point, they should have been to the vet to get fixed and I don't think they were. My husband said NOT to pick a female kitten. He says since they haven't been fixed yet, a female is apt to break into a bunch of little kittens!

3. Kittens are a drug. They really are. I'm addicted to kitten pictures on the DU. And I have
to pinch myself often and remind myself that with two fully grown cats at home I have no room for another.
