No one will ever be able to recreate Bruce Campbell's Ash with his boomstick. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0434020/

3. Wasn't Evil Dead II in some sense already a remake of The Evil Dead.
Edited on Tue Jan-06-09 09:54 AM by Chan790
Both films start from the same plot-point (Ash turns on a tape recorder of the professor translating the Book of the Dead (Necronomicon XMortis). The translation releases deadites who immediately take over one companion then stalk him and the rest of his cabin mates.) and follow more or less similar plots from there out. It's not really a sequel, it starts from the same moment in time and not subsequent to the earlier film.

So...really. We're getting a third version of the same general story. Nice. Only Sam Raimi could get away with that. They really need to bring back Bruce Campbell though...if not as Ash then in a cameo.

4. Yes.

The first one was less comedy/horror and more just horror, that was the biggest difference.

The second was better than the first... wonder if they can pull that off again.

6. For me the first one was funnier, it's just that it wasn't intended to be
more like Plan 9 funny.

7. Who can replace Bruce Campbell as Ash?
That's like replacing Anthony Perkins in Psycho, or Arnold in The Terminator, or Sigourney Weaver in Aliens.

10. From what I read online, Ash will not be a character in the remake
Which might work. If the remake recounts a bunch of kids going to the cabin (sans Ash) and they all die, it might still be fun and kind of 'work' in the timeline.

I've also read they have been working on a script for Evil Dead 4 for the last 2 years where Ash would be in the future (as per the original ending to The Army Of Darkness, aka Bruce Campbell vs. The Army of Darkness, aka The Medievil Dead).
