So, fellow loungers, how you doin'?
Me, I'm okay.

My beloved Sweetie kicked me to the curb back in August,
and I'd be a liar if I said that didn't hurt.

During the 9 years we were together, a lot of folks asked me
why I was with her...I never really came up with an answer.
Most folks just asssumed that I had a fetish for the large ladies...
I don't.

She had a thousand special qualities that were so much more wonderful
than her physical form....she was a world traveller, fluent in 3 languages;
she had a dual degree in mathematics/french, and a Masters in Social Work...
and she spent years taking private martial arts lessons under a true
Master of an old Okinawan style. And she was GOOD at that style.

May the Good Lord have mercy upon any fool who ever tries to mug her,
because she can put her foot upside your ear so fast that her leg is
just a BLUR on instant replay.

If she was just "one in a million", she'd be chinese, and there would
be a thousand more just like her.

She's 'one in 6 billion'; there has never been anyone quite like her
and it's unlikely that there ever will be again.

I'm a toothless hillbilly from Polecate Hollow, and I had the priveledge
of being her 'partner' for 9 years and a week.

So, given that I did that well for 9 years, it should come as no surprise
that I'm doing OK now.
I've finally got my dream job: I'm an Assistant Manager in a Thrift Store.

I've gotten 2 things I haven't had since 1994: a Driver's Licence and a haircut.
Both are working out well.
I no longer have hair halfway down my back; it's fuzz on the sides and about
an inch long on the top, and some of the bits on the front just strike out
in their own directions from one morning to the next.
On the days when the hair stays down, I kinda have a Keanu Reeves look happening.
EXCELLENT!

SO, long story short (too late), I've recently lost everything and am currently
engaged in bouncing back better than ever.
Just like I've done so many times before.

So, that's what's up with me.
What's up with you?

Richard Steele

1. I am sorry that you lost your sweetie but it seems as if you
are doing what you need to do to move forward and I wish you all the best.

7. Ya know all those trite cliches about how things happen for a reason
and when you aren't looking you find the one you have been waiting for? Maybe they're true, just keep plodding along and ya never know what good things can happen. Or maybe I am just a sap :P

14. Those aren't trite cliches...they are the story of my life.
Long story short: YES.

And I thank you for your support and understanding.

2. You!
What a magnificent post!

Me, I've been better. Currently in the grip of anxiety and depression, fighting against the current. Big time of transition. Don't know quite where I'm going or where I've been. Ready to say fuck it all and become a farmer.

But, so good to see you doing well. I've been wondering about you.

:)

:hi:

10. ME!
HaHa, you must be some sort of CITYgurrl
if you think "becoming a farmer" is a last-ditch option.

If I could be a farmer, I sure as hell wouldn't be working
29 hours a week for a minimum-wage job that requires me
to wear a nice white shirt, now would I?

If I ever get the chance to be a real farmer, I'll
have a big rattling house with a bunch of extra rooms
and a cellar where I can age my homemade wine...

If that ever happens, I'd like to invite you over to share
a gallon or two of that wine, whilst you and I discuss
the pros/cons of 'ploughing the back Fourty", knowhutImean?

11. I'm actually a country girl by birth, born on the farm
My grandpa's farm, to be exact. I'm not loving this city living/academia scene.

But I'd love to hang with you and drink that wine! :D

3. Fucking depressed as fuck
Cold rainy ass weather. The sun hangs low in the sky and even on the sunniest of days it looks like it's getting ready to set at 11:00 am. But Spring is just around the corner.

6. Pretty shitty
I just got back from work and one of my most confused and combative residents has a softball-sized hematoma on her hand as a result of her beating the crap out of me and two of my co-workers. We were trying to give her her scheduled shower.

Now I have a feeling that I am in serious trouble with my job and my NA license.

Other than that I am a fucking peach.

8. My dear dicksteele...
I know you're in pain and my heart goes out to you...

I hope that time and new friends and your great new job will put some distance between that pain and you.

I'm doing well...

Trying to get my mojo back so I can get some more poems published ...

Getting ready to travel to DC for the Inauguration...

Like that!

12. My dear "NOTORIOUS CALLI-P", you original gangsta, you....
You have seen so much, actually EXPERIENCED so much,,,,
This stuff that I'm dealing with is like 60 years away
in your past...and about half as interesting.

I appreciate the CHARITY inherent in
someone as AWESOME as you 'kicking' a thread
posted like someone as mundane like me.

I love ya, Peggy.... just like we ALL do here at DU.

Sincerely,
Richard Steele

9. I don't know you,
but I like you. A lot. You sure do have a lot of love in you. That's gorgeous. Your post is gorgeous.

It sounds like you're getting it together - no small feat, ever. I applaud your courage and strength.

Things change all the time, and, far too often, they change in a suckass way. For you, it sounds awfully difficult.

But, beware the people who tell you that "it'll be all right." What they're saying isn't true. It won't be all right like it was, not ever again. Because you don't have what you had. There is no cure, and you can't go back.

What you'll have is a whole new kind of all right And that will be wonderful.

I wish you every kind of good luck imaginable. I hope 2009 is the best year you've ever had.

13. Yeah, that's the truth: you sure as hell don't know me.
But your post just blew me away with its INTENT,
and I wanna say that I feel the same way.

Everything is going alwright withg me- it's going so well
that I can't touch a light-switch without seeing a spark
an inch long.

They say that GOD watches over little children and idiots...
and I'm no little child, LOL.

I have assloads of extra energy coming my way every day,
TlB...and I always have.

If youy ever feel the need to "tap into" some extra ergs,
just think of me, and the power will be there.
