Samuel Adams--have you ever had it?
I know practically nothing about beer, since I don't drink it. We're making beer-battered fried fish tonight, though, and that requires beer. Someone else recommended Samuel Adams. Is this a good beer for cooking with?

But if you do decide to drink it, pour it in a glass and let it sit for a minute

4. I haven't consumed any beer as a drink since
my Dad convinced me to try some of his Milwaukee's Best as a kid.

I've stayed far, far away ever since, lol.

8. Just meant not light beer
or "pales." I think Samuel Adams has a few pale ales.

Plus it's just my opinion hehe.

I like stout beers in batters. :9

it's good. I use the Boston Lager, generally. And, I sure like to drink it! :beer:

10. I was thinking about taking what we don't use and making chili out of it.
ThinkBlue got one of the big 22-ounce bottles, but we aren't going to need all of it to fry enough fish for three people. I've heard that beer chili is the absolute best, so I'm interested in trying it. We don't often have beer around to use up, after all, and if you marinate steak in it, then it must be good with beef.

21. I went to a beer dinner and talked to the head brewer of the brewery
he told me that i always suggests using good beer to cook. if it is good enough to drink it has to be good enough to use in food.

13. Samual Adams is one of my least favorites
I find it to be far to hoppy for my taste.
A beer like Beck's would be good for both cooking and drinking.

I think the beer just makes a lighter coating because of the carbonation in it. But I'm not totally sure.
Hoppy to me means that it has sort of a bitter finish to it. :)

It would be a waste of "Ninja Yeast"

Actually the Sam Adams website reccomends either the Boston Lager or Sam Adams Light for beer-battered fish.
Sam Adams makes a variety of Beers and gives guidance on cooking as well as which b eers go best with different foods.

If the white fish is lightly breaded and fried, Sam Adams Light® or Pale Ale will provide just enough balance for the fish. If the fish is deep-fried, then you will want something that will help lift some of those heavy flavors. Samuel Adams Boston Lager®, a hoppier beer, would be your pairing.

oh, for cooking. Hmm, I don't know. I don't know if you need really good beer for that, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt. :shrug:

so yes, it should work.

Whatever you do, DON'T use a cheap beer in a can.

Use a GOOD (~7 bucks a 6-pack) beer in a bottle.

Actually, it's dark for a lager. It's hoppy and strong, and would hold up well in a batter.

Sam brews about 3,649 different varieties, including a stout, cranberry lambic, a summer wheat, and all sorts of other seasonals.
