When it comes to your favorite band/artist, do you ever find yourself wondering...
"Why doesn't everybody feel the same way about (band/artist)? Clearly, (band/artist) makes the greatest music ever made in history. It's pretty much self-evident just by listening to it. Everyone should feel exactly the same way as I do about (band/artist). What's wrong with you people? Can't you see this is the absolute greatest music you'll ever hear?"

I've seen it happen.

how I feel when someone tries to sell ME on the virtues of a band/artist I really don't like, so I try not to do the same, even if only in my head.

19. Usually I just assume anyone with a different opinion is defective.
It's harder for me to understand why people don't hate the artists I do than why they don't love the artists I do. Yes, that says a lot about me, and I don't care. Now, get off my lawn.

22. With modern music? Never
Now, some of the classics I would argue about. Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Holst, I will argue their works are the greatest music ever made.

Jethro Tull, Kansas, The Beatles, Nine Inch Nails... Love them all but I would never expect everybody to like them.

:wtf:

Now I realize that all my music is essentially crap to the bug-eyed bow-legged normal man. And I think that's great. The less into it the better. I'd hate it if a lot of clowns were into my favorite bands and I had to see them at shows and shit. x(

I don't think there is such a thing as bad taste in music. There are just desires for different kinds of music.

32. Seriously..
I find that different kinds of music have their strengths.. some are profound, some are fun, some make you cry - I don't think one kind is necessarily better than the other. :hi:

33. Not for well-known, well-promoted artists.
But I do wonder sometimes about bands that I really love that never really hit it big, that it seems like more people should like, for example:

Sky Cries Mary - had a huge and loyal following here in Seattle during the 90s, when you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting an A&R rep looking for the next big act. And while they weren't remotely grunge, they had a '70s updated to the '90s sound that would have fit perfectly into alternative and college rock radio at the time.

Golden Palominos - More of a collective/concept than an actual band, but they put out a bunch of great stuff ranging from no-wave to straightforward rock, to a sort of trip-hop/singer-songwriter blend. And Micheal Stipe sang on a bunch of their late 80s material - I would have thought that a bunch of REM fans would have promoted them.

Drive By Truckers - a current band that has a completely retro arena-rock sound. It seems like most people who like classic rock ought to like them, and with at least 5 radio stations here that play nothing but classic rock, that's a bunch of people.

34. Syd Straw from the Golden Palominos really should be a lot more famous
I saw her front them at shows in 1986 and 1987.

Everyone at the shows fell in love with her.

36. Yeah, she had a great voice.
Their early 90s vocalist, Lori Carson was pretty good too. She did a couple solo albums that were Golden Palominos album in all but name (well, and also without much Laswell.)

in a long time to impress me. Any band with the balls to throw the line "God damned Reagan's in the White House" gets my respect.

37. For example?
REM in the 80s were great...REM from the 90s on suck... Everybody should agree with me and if you don't why then what's wrong with you? For disagreeing with me? Of course I stopped listening to them when they started sucking but obviously anybody who likes their later stuff is clearly a wanker so who cares what they think? eh?
