1. Linkin Park - In the End. I came to appreciate its campiness.

5. All of the Steve Perry Journey stuff. Every single bit of it. Back then, I effin' HATED it.

I ran with a Prog Rock crowd...King Crimson, Genesis (until Steve Hackett left), Yes, Mahavishnu Orchestra, the "Lotus"-era Santana, etc etc etc...

...so Journey's second album, "Look Into The Future," was a biggie for me. As a frontman, Gregg Rolie didn't have a lot of range, but it fit the music well. It was a heavy guitar album, and I loved it.

When Perry came along I thought "You've GOT TO BE KIDDING."

So did Journey, actually, as is documented in VH-1's "Behind The Music." But they wanted hit records and their manager pretty much rammed Perry down their throats.

Now, the music reminds me of the era, since you could not possibly escape it if you have MTV on all the time like I did in those days.

It's still cynical pop confections, but cynical pop confections that bring back a LOT of peripheral memories.

It grew on me.

I'd run out and buy the new album, and hate it on first play. But, keep playing it. It would grow and grow.
