3. You better get used to them
Before long, you will be swimming alongside them in your living room. :P

5. That's NEXT winter
I swear, it usually isn't that bad. Helluva first impression though!

Remember when you were hoping for rain last summer? Well, your pleas were heard, it's just that the cosmic phone lines were jammed, hence the delayed response. Also, you never mentioned a "relocation exclusion" in your contract with Mama Nature. x(

6. Just wait, this summer will be the hottest on record or something.
My co-workers might start a petition to send me back to Texas if this keeps up.

7. I hope you experience a typical summer
It will make all of this now very worthwhile. Nothing beats a Seattle summer when it's at its best. And I say this as someone who lives in Perpetual Good Weather Land. :D

8. I remember coming up here in July of '05.
The weather was absolutely perfect. As long as 90 is described as hot, I'll be pretty happy. I'm used to 90 being called a cold front. :D

10. 90 is hot up there!
People start wearing shorts when it hits 60. In '95 we experienced 100 for the first time in Seattle history (99 was the previous record, from Labor Day of '88 - my first year there). When it gets sustained, the humidity becomes a factor. Most places are not equipped with central A/C, so a good fan is in order.

11. Last August, I was visiting Madrone.
Temperatures were over 100. Of course there is no a/c. It sucked. A lot.

I am used to ceiling fans. I have had one in every bedroom I've lived in for the past 28 years. I will miss them. I do have a good floor fan though. I need another one though.

14. It's hotter where she is
Edited on Sat Jan-10-09 12:49 AM by ZombyWoof
Mind you, I was only referring to west of the Cascades. :-)

I went to school in Ellensburg (as you probably recall), and it was usually hovering in the upper 90's/lower 100's when I started school in mid-September. I recall October '91 vividly - it was 90 the 1st of the month, and on Halloween - snow! Biggest single month change in temperature I ever experienced anywhere I have lived.

Eastern WA is a different world, in more ways than one. :D

15. Yeah, those flatlanders out east.
;)

I think the hottest day I have experienced is the day of the Willie Nelson picnic at the Gorge. It was a tad roasty. Granted I was outside all day...

17. Just to show you how schizoid the weather is
I saw Neil Young and Crazy Horse at the Gorge in August of '96, and damned if it wasn't cold, windy, and drizzly! Perfect when he ripped into "Like A Hurricane". :D

Some of the footage from that show made it into his concert film "Year of the Horse".

19. Had a bad one in the 90s.
Edited on Sat Jan-10-09 01:05 AM by Jamastiene
I actually used to like mine, but I wore a hat all the time in the 90s and just wanted my hair out of my face while I was playing in front of people...I mean playing the guitar, fellow pevs.

Now, I don't have one any more. I still have the guitars, but rarely ever get to play them. I miss it terribly, playing guitar. I don't really miss the mullet. I need sleep. Making no sense even to me now.
