My advisor did a really generous thing for me yesterday

I mentioned to him that my laptop was crapping out and I wasn't sure when I was going to be able to afford a new one.

Turns out he'd just purchased a new "work" laptop for himself, so his old one was sitting in his office unused. "I knew there was a reason I got a new laptop!" he said.

He's letting me use the old one (which is only about a year old) for the rest of the time I'm in grad school.

Now I don't have to worry about what to do this summer when I'm out doing fieldwork and need to type up field notes, etc. or where or when I work on my dissertation.

This is such a relief. I don't know when I'll stop thanking him, if ever.

3. I'm starting to suspect a disc issue.

The pain feels a lot like the one in my lower back did before it completely blew out. I don't want to go through THAT again, so here's hoping they can figure it out and do something about it beforehand, this time. But it still sucks that this happened so close to the start of the semester, argh.

Oh well. C'est la vie, n'est-ce pas? :hug:
